Maloney is better than any half we have at the club currently. He's no Carney when Carney's firing, but he's more consistent than Carney, so I'd be really happy with him. I don't see it panning out though.

We should go for it, why the **** not? There's no real reason at all why Cronulla can't start trying to their feet into the Blacktown area, where there is a large multicultural and fairly recent Sudanese-refugee population around. Generally soccer and basketball seem to be growing the fastest, but it's worth a go. It's nowhere near Cronulla, but *meh*, it's not like Penrith and Blacktown are the same thing like Phil Gould likes to suggest.

Just looking at our current player list: David & Andrew Fifita, Wade Graham, Luke Lewis, Siosaia Vave, Paul Simona are current blokes I can name off the top of my head from the Blacktown area, probably a few more in lower grades. Patrician Brothers Blacktown is always going to be a massive "nursery" of players, there's no reason why they have to be partnered with Penrith either.

Or whatever.

nice idea but a couple of things -

1. We can't even get it right in our own district. The Sharks and the junior clubs have a huge gulf between them. There are more kids in school that support St George or Canterbury than Cronulla

2. Penrith pump hundreds of thousands of dollars into their district and there is no way they would sit by and watch another club try to stake a claim to what is rightfully theirs. If we started a turf war, we would be the losers.

Good to see people thinking though. Maybe start thinking about a country region.....funnily enough, like Penrith has.

Tends to get brought up on here every so often, whether the club has any desire to bother with it who knows ?

This is the bit that gets me - fix this before we go looking to claim other areas.

Can't blame the kids. The thing that got me onto the sharks was them kicking ass most weeks. Supporting a winning side. Who's going to support a team that was embattled in sex scandals as you're going through primary school.

God I hope we don't sign Maloney. Dude is average.

What we should be doing is chasing the guy the Roosters want to replace Maloney with.

****ing idiotic isn't it.

Robson is off contract and 33 at the end of 2015. We will have the money to make a big bid for any of the best halves off contract. Players you could build a team around.

We are seemingly after Maloney.

That is ****ing idiotic.

Late December last I heard. ..if he isn't back by then the club has a option in it's favour, To terminate his contract.

Not sure on the exact date.

Have I not been paying attention 1st time I've read or heard anything about not being back by certain dates that can activate termination of contracts..

Notice when other clubs lose star players they are linked with quality replacements within a day or 2. We lose a star player it seems like they never get replaced.
