i dont really care about the fifita bit. The penalty bit for moving clubs is just plain unprofessional. The whole staff have been unproffessional in their whole tenure....
From my understanding the flanno/sharpe hate is growing. Unfortunately the board dont have the balls to **** them off

Understand your position and disappointment, but really, why give the dogs a leg up (no pun intended) for next year. Especially when we'll have 2 nsw cup specialists sharing the duties.
Bennett used to do the same. It hurts (at least doesnt help) the opposition, sends a warning msg to the other players in your squad, and potentially opens up a spot for someone who will stay with us.

Lets just hope we work out a way to use that spot...

The current coaching staff need to go, absolute idiots, penalising players for signing with other clubs. Will fifita be dropped as well?

obviously you weren't a part of this forum 3 yrs ago when fergo was retained....100% of people of here wanted Fergo axed, now we see the opposite...to be honest I agree with coaching staff, its about succession planning and why waist developing the guy when he will not be here next year ?? fafita is a different case as it will hurt the team ... not bothered with lichaa ...he wil not win us games either way...give Brown and Poliniti a go I say..

I think the story in the paper is just a cheap shot and have a feeling that Michael Lichaa was only going too get a game or 2 for the first part of the season and slowly be brought in too a full time bench spot..
His Manager and his dad Window Lichaa are just milking this too the point too turn the heat on the club and off Michael..

Well that what I hope anyway, if at all true and the club hasn't denied it (only stating they don't talk publically about selections) then that'll do me..

It's pretty simple bud.

What he's saying is why should the club blood a guy when we know he won't be here next season. If we're going to give a young guy a run, why not give that opportunity to someone who may actually be here next year, such as Brown or Politoni.

So one could assume that Windows' son may be a pane in our sides for the rest of the year or a hero.

Totally agree on dropping him to NSW Cup this year. In fact, let him play with De La or the Gymea Gorillas.

He is not yet a first grader.

Why would we spend the next couple of months getting him up to first grade standard, for another club to reap the benefits.

Let's look at Brown in his place.

i dont really care that he signed for someone else. this deal wasnt brokered overnight, the whispers have been there for 12-18 months now. footy is a business these days whether we like it or not. there will someone to take his place.

i want to win, and if lichaa is part of the best 17 players we can field then i want him in the team.

I'm sorry but I have to completely agree with Sharp, why should we blood Lichaa for first grade just so the bulldogs can take him and reap the rewards straight away. Also I have to say if the reason he left is because we wouldn't offer him 300K a season then good on us. Why should we take a risk and sign someone for that much money without first grade experience. Do we really want another Karl Filiga situation on our hands? Now that I think about it, this seems exactly like the Filiga situation but in reverse (e.g touted as the next big thing but turns out to be useless.

Fifita is a different story. He is already an established star and we might as well get our moneys worth.

This is where the Sharks failed. If you identify a talent like Lichaa, you give them more than a two year contract. See http://www.zerotackle.com/nrl/sharks-secure-young-talent-7830/. 4 years and we would have had two years of him in first grade and maybe pay him the money he would have been worth by then to sign him on for further years. I feel sometimes our desperation for a premiership clouds our judgement in terms of recruitment. It seems we feel that if we can put together an established first grade team, we will get there, but if look at teams that have had success in the past, they have ridden young guys talent to the top. Sometimes that means sacrificing short term success. However, I think this is the curse for any Sharks coach. Premiership in a few years or you are gone. The Panther's are an example to follow and will win a premiership in the next 5 years. Anyway, what is done is done. Time to move on. Audible sigh...

I can almost gaurantee when Lichaa signed his last contract at the Sharks for 2ys he manager would have only wanted him to sign for 2yrs knowing full well in 2yrs time he would be on the cusp of playing first grade & then it would be a bigger pay day for player & him.

For all we know the Sharks might have tried the 4yr deal like you were suggesting but only got the 2yr commitment from Lichaa & he's manager.

Exactly. The sharks did everything for the kid. And in this day of managers and money they played it right.
Imagine if he'd done a knee late last year and we had to rehab him again and wait longer to get him into firsts.

If u ask me his manager and obviously his dad had him for sale to the right buyer. He had all these offers, if he wanted to be a shark he would be. Like many athletes before him if he is gunna have a loud mouth dad in the shadows he will be ****ed.
If his dad keeps baggin the club do u think they r gunna wanna play him? Nup. Id throw sbw a couple of grand to take his head off

at this stage the bulldogs are over the cap for next year, they should not be allowed to sign players for next year until
the let some players go and are not over the cap any more.
