Yes figures are loose but it's not so bad, I think you undervalued Woods, Chad and SJ collectively by about $500k. Let's say $350k. Also upgrades may average $75k saving a total of $150k for the 6 Bort mentioned, this would give us a total $1.9M maybe $1.8M for 4 spots. We can afford $1.5M for both Dale and Gaigai, leaving $300k for 2 players.
The $300k gets 2 @ $150k or 1 @ $250k + 1 @ $50k. How we get to 1 @ $50k is our 30th player is on minimum and signed up after mid season before cut off, thereby paying for 1/2 season.
I'd tend to agree with your numbers on those guys but usually someone will pop up to whinge when I try and say I think player X is on this much etc etc
Upgrades may very well average 75k rather than 100k, I've really got no idea about that.
I do think we likely had to pay out a bit to keep Rudolf and Will in particular, and all are players in our best 17 or 18 so would demand a little more on average. Will in particular
may have gone up something like 150k up to 400k so even if others only went up average of 75k the overall average would be around 100k. Hence why I called it 100. But really got no idea what those contracts were worth before or are now.
Even then probably just means your 300k becomes 150k across two players, including likely 1-2 being midway pickups.
This gives us those two, plus the 6 guys I called 'in and out', plus Metcalf, Pele, Jensen, Hunt, probably Wilton and maybe at least 1 of Tracey or Trindall so around 14 guys under 180k (the median wage of NRL players).
Can also save a little bit potentially if we could get Ash Taylor or another half for 200-250k rather than Moylan around 300k.
So yeah maybe we could get Finucane and Gagai both if we didn't have to overpay for either. Not if we get Watson though which we supposedly want... although given the news around Hynes and McInnes was minimal probably more chance we sign one of the other two than the Watson goss ends up correct
