Seriously 10 years ago can you have imagined Cronulla would have the calibre of players such as Todd carney, ben barba, James Maloney, matt Moylan, josh Dugan and bring a talent like val or brailey?

It's unbelievable how far we have come

I got about 10 paragraphs into making a post about this very thing, but didn't finish it. 2009 onwards was pretty dull for a sharks fan, but signings like Lewis, Gordon, Fifita, then snaking Carney really put the wheels in motion for a maiden GF win.

I've heard plenty of times that we were an unnttactice club, even hearing "players go there to end their career" and players managers advising their players not to go there because the club was a shamble... but with Lyal, and GF win, it seems that stigma has well and truely gone away.

I do think we need to make the top 4 this year to keep up the appearance of being a successful club that challenges for a gf and not a team that is just making up numbers in the finals

Dugan nailed a sideline kick in the game against the roosters this year to send it into overtime. Give him the role

I'm not opposed to Moylan coming here, but we've just given Penrith the best halves combo in the combo. If Maloney could in a comp with Townsend by his side what's he going to do with Cleary?

He didn't want to be here and we got a good replacement. Couldn't have done much better tbh.

**** imagine if we snagged Pearce as well and then Neville for 2019 to replace Lewy. That would be absolutely epic.

Given Maloney and Cleary will be Penrith's halves for the next three years, is anyone interested in pinching Tyrone May? He's injured at the moment but he's meant to be a dead-set gun. Could compete with Chad and Flanno Jr for the halfback role in 2019.

Maloney won a comp with Ennis at hooker and Barba at FB. Panthers have Wallace and Edwards

I hope Cleary is being paid more than Maloney...

I don't think Maloney will be happy if he's being paid more, being the worse player.

Still can't believe Maloney is in our team of the half-century.

How's it embarrassing? He was a massive piece of our first title, deserves to be there.

Massive part? A cog. A decent Cog but just a cog in a machine.

His whole 2016 season wasn't even that great. Start of that season he was crap actually.

Might have gone a bit better with Barba still creating havoc and a top up pay rise for 2018 ( closer to Moylan or Chad's 2018 figures ) .BUT , yep a disappointing 2017
