Eagles at it again , recruiting our juniors

A PINCH AND A PUNCH

THE bitter rivalry between Manly Sea Eagles and Cronulla Sharks continues. This time, it’s over one of the hottest young prospects in the game.

The Sea Eagles have stolen NSW under-18 half Luke Metcalfe, a Cronulla junior who excelled in Harold Matthews and S.G. Ball. The youngster is seen as a long-term replacement for Daly Cherry-Evans.

Cronulla already has Shane Flanagan’s son, Kyle, earmarked for big things as their first-grade halfback. Kyle is the top pointscorer in Holden Cup this year.

Gee, lots of player movements.

Love how they say Manly have "stolen" Metcalf. Just another example of a journo wanting to sensationalise things.
We probably made him an offer, then Manly made one and he decided to accept Manly's offer. They didn't bloody steal him!

I don't think he'll be the first unfortunately. With the massive success of our 20's, they're going to come under the attention of rival clubs. Can't keep em all or even most of them, we just gotta hope we can hold onto a few of the best ones.

Definitely a Flanno purchase, mature player not wanted by his club with something to prove.

Bring him here, I don't care about the dude's media reputation or if coaches don't like him. We won a premiership with Barba after all.

Metcalfe will probably play for NSW and Flanno a 1 year wonder

I agree . If only we could afford him. Maybe Titans will go halves

Yeah regardless or where he goes, if he does leave, they'll have to pay some of it.

Only for 2018 though, then we'd be stuck fitting the whole bill for a complete porkchop.

Someone will take him, and in doing it will need to offload some talent to do it. I'd rather wait and see what the fall-out is from him leaving tits and see if we can get some value scraps.

Yeah true. All really depends on price. I was a massive fan before he left for the NFL, not so much now.

Pretty sure his value has gone way down though
