As good as Cronk would be for the team, it's just not worth it in the long run. Chad and Maloney have won a premiership together and that was their first year playing together. It would be silly to split them up and have to form new combinations

I get the feeling Cronk is well and truly on the decline.

Physically I think he's fine. I don't think his head/heart is 100% in it. Part of him is already shacked up with the missus in Sydney and spending his weekends on a couch commenting on football for Fox.

Cronk has never been a naturally gifted footballer, he's had to work extremely hard to have the career he's had. Not saying others don't, but unlike most dominant halfbacks he wouldn't of got part the way there on talent alone. So if his devotion to it is off a bit he'll struggle more I think.

Because of that I'd be wary of signing him. He's not gonna have the same love for any other Club, coach or teammates as he does with Storm and that loyalty to the purple scum keeps him giving at a level I doubt he could find for another side.

Yep agree with all of that mate. Personally I'm 95% sure he'll retire next year.

I wouldn't be too worried about his work ethic and focus. I think he's pretty professional. I don't think he'll commit if he doesn't want to play.

%100. He is the ultimate professional. From the acritcles I read, he is basically coaching the team while playing for them. I'd absolutely froth at the prospect of him playing for the Knights or Wests, for the pure aspect of improving them. If I'm the NRL I'd be trying to make that happen to improve them. Without a player like that they will continue to wipe Cronulla's boots

Cronk for MoM next Wednesday. He's still got it. We don't need him at his price, but he is still the best 7 around.

Well everyone's friend Paul Kent just said Alex Johnston will announce Cronulla or Souths in a couple days. Souths being the hot tip.

And THEN briefly mentioned the rumour doing the rounds - Cooper Cronk to Cronulla and Maloney being allowed to leave.

BWB would be frothing as well.. from the rabies...
I don't want Wests or Newcastle to improve - quite happy for those basket cases to continue to wipe our boots (even if our more recent narrow victories against these mobs suggest they aren't getting much further than the laces...)

If we wanna watch with interest what Cronk could do to improve a **** team send him to a different one

Wonder what happened to the Johnson to Dragons rumour, you'd think they were certainties considering they were the only joint willing to give him fullback money and hand him the 1 jersey. Guess the Queens changed their minds and going to bank on one of their rookies.

Peta Hiku set be released before June 30 deadline

Peta Hiku is set to leave the Penrith Panthers before the June 30 deadline this year, with Super League club Warrington Wolves set to sign him.

Hiku joined the Panthers ahead of the 2016 season on a three-year deal and has made 22 appearances for the club so far.

Still under contract until the end of the 2018 season, Hiku is expected to be granted an early release by Penrith to make the move.

It’s understood the deal is close to being finalised by all parties and Warrington are hoping they can have Hiku in club colours before their Challenge Cup match against the Wigan.

I'd be pretty happy if we snuck in and signed Hiku before super league.

Rather blood a youngun on the wing than pick up Hiku. Higher ceiling, lower price.
