I'd be interested in getting Kahu, good goal kicker, field goal option can also play Wing and FB and replace Beale as the Mr Fix it.
i'd throw out a mid-season transfer. I'd happily take Kahu or a young forward from them

Rather not fix what isn't broken

Same. Johnson could end up being anything and he's more likely to under-perform than over-perform on the money it would take.

That's a reasonable approach and agreed until Bird walked. But we've lost a gamebreaker - two really, without Barba - so we're hardly going to be heading into 2018 with our successful 2016 roster.

Add in the fact that Chad is apparently looking for about 2/3 the money that Johnson would demand... go after SJ. The blokes is an absolute freak. Excellent all round footballer, genuine halfback, hitting his prime, proven combination with Maloney and would be dynamite with Val, huge marketing pull. And would keep our 'premiership window' open post Gal and Bird. Chad doesn't offer that.

Yes he would be expensive and difficult to snare. But we're premiers, if ever there is a time to aim high its now.

The gold thing about if you did sign Johnson is he can be the Maloney replacement when we lose him & we can look again at someone around Chad's quality or bring though Flanno.

Yes, agree. That was part of the thinking.

Oh for sure we're as good an option as anyone and better than most. I didn't mean "ambitious" as in we shouldn't bother. I also didn't know of the talk about him and Sydney Clubs, so that makes it less of a task than I originally thought.

Certainly wouldn't be upset getting SJ. What sort of ballpark dollars you think he'd be got for?

I reckon bidding would start at $1m. Then you start finding third parties - that's where the challenge would be. And he's probably one of very few who are worth it, when you factor in the off field pull.

FWIW I reckon he needs a change too to get the best out of his football.

World class players who won't play Origin I think can be a bit more value too. Hypothetically if you had 2 identical players but 1 was guaranteed not to be picked for Origin, I'd take that bloke.

Would rather Chad on 660 than SJ on 1 million.

Spend the money on areas that need improvement, like outside backs.

Im leaning more to pass on this

Why is that mate?

I'm still suss on why his name has popped up a bit. Storm were keen, got him, played him then he got injured and now he's in the rumour mill.

Maybe a good fit for the Tigers and we'll re-home Nofalouma.

Hard to say with Curtis, been carrying injuries since he went down there or something.

And YES to the bigger Peta Hiku with the long name that plays 2nd row for Penrith. He's a go-er, seems to always be doing something in the games he has played.

you would say given you've been slurping down townsends shaft for years.

Rather go after a quality half given there's a good chance Maloney will move on next year then we are stuck with a rank average halfback

Go hard at johnson. Rather build a team around johnson than chad

With the cap rise can't see why we can't get johnson and gagai

What makes you say Maloney will fly?

he has every other time he has been of contract. Not saying it will definitely happen

Need to keep in mind that the bulk of quality players are off contract this year. Who are we going to get to replace Maloney with if he keeps his current patten up and moves on.

I'd rather be looking for a partner to play along a johnson than a Townsend. We sign johnson we wouldn't be in such a predicament to have to keep Maloney at all costs.

Flanno needs to be very astute with his signings this year
