Yes very true. I guess this is the cost of winning a comp.
We have a lot of players of contract this year. I wonder how many will stay

I think paying overs to keep a proven and known quantity is smarter than paying overs for a new player. At some point we're going to have to pay overs to keep some guys at the club. Surely Wade is just such a guy.

Of all our players off contract we could keep any of them that we want and sacrafice a few. With cap increase and a few retirees we could keep anyone but we cant weaken the make up of the squad by just paying for loyalty

Id also argue backrow is the most replaceable position. If wade signed elsewhere we could push to move bird in. We also have capewell in the wings and in a year or so potentially jack williams if he keeps developing the way he seems to be. I honestly dont think theres any edge second rowers in the comp id pay much more than 700k for.

Awesome! If we can keep fifita and prior as our engine room the back row will sort itself out.

So what I have heard in the grapvine is that wade wants 4 years and sharks are only willing to give him 2...wtf... why? who knows. Ive also heard that its either hold on to him and lose bird or vice versa. Honestly I see him signing with the roosters.

i reckon Wade would end up at Souths before roosters.

Lets not forget we have Bakuya waiting in the wings.......quality second rowers arent difficult to find on the market theres always someone lookin around for a gig.

If we are making Bird a priority, i hope its not just for the sake of having him stay, but that its a deal that works for the team. I do feel like with all the noise about him wanting this position or that position, even though every time hes asked he says, ill play anywhere in the 17, we dont need him running the club either

We should keep Wade over Bird. We've put so much into him and he is now an origin player, and ready to be captain, and a good fit for captain at that.

I doubt the club only offered him two years. That's nuts.

In recruitment generally, I hope Flanno isn't relying to much on the boys wanting to keep playing together because they won
a gf together.

Finally signing seg is probably a step towards getting wade to stay. Pretty fast friends by all reports. I'd prioritise Wade over Bird.

You're forgetting one thing. Wade wants to stay.
He's just trying to squeeze as much as possible, let him test his value.
I cant see many clubs with big holes in the back row that would pay massive money for Graham. He's good, but not that good.
He'll re-sign.
