Neither of the players are what you would consider an 'established' first grader.

The others are, that's why I personally think he will go with them.

I didn't say this means they are in better form or better players.

It may depend on how they go in trials, but I'd be surprised if Gagan was above them in the pecking order at present.

That's what gets me about the whole established players thing. Brown, Wright, Ayshford may be more experienced but Holmes has something none of them will ever have.

Our backline is what it has been for years because of players like Brown and Wright. I'd like to see Flanno take a bit of initiative for once and pick Gagan or Holmes instead of going with the safe option.

I was impressed by Leutele in the Four Nations. He was marking up against the best centres in the world and pretty much held his own in defence.
This is a joke yeah? Don't think he even made the squad. Samoa's centres were Lafai and BJ

The good teams take risks sometimes. Souths weren't scared to dump Merritt for Johnston even though Merritt was an established first grader. Gagan deserves a shot straight up next year.

Not really the same comparison given Merritt was at the end of his career and about to retire.

But don't get me wrong, i'd love to see Gagan and Holmes named in the starting side round 1.

Just don't think we will.

Merritt played origin the year before he was dropped I'd say it was a pretty big risk.

I'd love to see
Gordon
Holmes
Feki
Beale
Gagan
feki runs the best out of all our backs and isn't confident under the high ball and hasn't been for 2 years

Reserves
Gardner
Sailuma
Leutele
Bird
Brown

Gives Holmes and Gagan to adjust to first grade outside of people who have played for a while now

This would be mine

Holmes
Gordon
Feki
Beale
Gagan

Bit inexperienced but you gotta start sometime. We aint gonna win the comp next year and that backline has all the elements.

Out of all of that, i'm most interested to see how Feki would go.

I do hope we get to see that. Because I think he's more natural there than on the wing.
