We could’ve been in a good position to sign Moses you know BUT of course we had to make sure we secured the hugely important signings of Matt Moylan and Graham

FFS mate. Graham isn't even playing in 2024. What does he have to do with the club having the room or need to sign Moses?
We will give him one more year because he’s our beloved skipper

I don’t get the Moses love, pre 22 form he was mid field and over rated.
22 had a good year but played behind some great go forward, perfect service from his hooker.
Was his best year of his career but he isn’t the player to break the bank for tho imo.

The game has changed and its suits his style as an eyes up running halfback

I'm not gushing over Moses but I think he'd work for us
Moses can control a game, kick or play more of a running style, which would let he and Nicho share the duties. I think Nicho needs that support to bring the best out in him and Moses would do well without the constant pressure to be the man.

He's also proven the can take it to the next level, and we don't have much of that to help us through the finals ATM... And there's not a lot on the market with that experience or ability

Any top 5 or 6 spine player we picked up should probably make our team better.

We'd also probably look good if we replaced Blayke with Harry or Api, or brought in Teddy or Trell.

I know it's easy to sit on the forum and say what you think is best for the team with little regard to the people but I'm not sure downgrading our Dally M winning 7 to 6 (because that is what you are doing) to pay another 7 almost double to come in and do what he wants to do actually gets the best out of him.

I don't think you get the best out of Nicho or the team by making him touch the ball virtually every tackle. Your thoughts are he could use a kicking option. I feel the same about a controlling option. Sometimes he's caught out organising or distributing when he should be lining up as part of the attack. Moylan doesn't quite relieve enough of that imho.

And if we're being real, Dally M doesn't really reflect the best player into that position. It's a fantastic achievement, but you're not comparing halves directly. I wouldn't say we couldn't improve things because of it.

The real question is do you want Nicho to be a controlling half back, or someone who is playing second fiddle to a controlling half back (like a Moses).

Moses and Nicho might look good together, until Nicho decides to walk to another club that wants to make him the controlling half back.

The 6 doesn't necessarily play second fiddle to the 7. Just look at our premiership halves.

That said I do think Nicho wants to stay in the 7, and that we'd be better off with a 6 with a handy short kicking game.

For me the real question is do we want our best player touching the ball the same amount as the season we came second and he won the Dally M, or less?

Makes more sense to me to find a good upgrade to Moylan that fits what currently works, than to throw the bank at marquee players to take over from our marquee player.

In line with your second sentence I worry about our team balance if we have Moses on 1 million and have to upgrade Hynes to 1 million to keep him too.

The fact our best player got tackled on the fourth once or maybe sometimes twice a game in his first season in the position is relatively low priority to me in terms of things to improve.

They do if the 7 is a million dollar a year veteran, that's not what we had in 2016 Chad partnered with Maloney.

Funnily enough plenty spent years saying Chad doesn't control the team well enough and now he's gone elsewhere and succeeded and the new guy doesn't control the game well enough either. One of the hardest things to actually see unless you're on the sideline IMO.
I couldn't honestly say I have a good grasp of how well Hynes does or does not direct the team around the park.
