CANTERBURY skipper Michael Ennis is 48 hours away from joining the Cronulla Sharks unless the Bulldogs come up with a last-minute offer.

The inspirational hooker is using the bye weekend to weigh up his options and a possible club swap with Cronulla’s boom young hooker Michael Lichaa.

Ennis and his young family have lived in the Shire for several years and are keen to stay in the area.

Come on Noyce, get it done.

"Cronulla-sharks-set-to-win-the-fight-to-sign......."

Now where have I heard that before??????

I won't believe anything until the club comes out and CONFIRMS it.

I'm sure I'll get bagged for saying this but ennis signing does not excite me at all, I've never rated him.

But I understand its an upgrade on what we've got so I'll just try and look at it in a positive way.

Echoing my sentiments there mate, I would rather Koriasu or a younger more dynamic hooker. But in the state the club is at the moment, we take what we can get, and Ennis is a significant upgrade on what we have.............if we land him.

So if we get an 80 minute hooker will Flanno use Robson and De Gois as 40 minute half backs?

basically how I feel, I'd prefer a more attacking hooker that has flare not a defensive hooker like Ennis

No bagging here. I've never been a fan. I just hope if we go with Ennis it gives Flanno the confidence to put some time into developing a young halfback.

We only offered Ennis a 2 year deal surely that should make a few sitting on the fence on this signing happy 50k a season less than raiders.. All good I rekon if we snag him not massive $ overs and not for too long.

Can't disagree with any of that.

I used to hate Ennis, especially when he played Origin - the best player Qld ever had...

These days however. he is in great form & would fit into our team beautifully.

Ennis may be a good player but our modus operandi has not changed despite the bleeding obvious that it is not working - we continue to sign players long term who are in the twilight of their careers.

The hard physicality of the modern game is more suited to younger guys with shorter careers. Older players are much more prone to injury. Our Dad's Army is a case in point.

He will retire the same age as carney

I wanted the souths dude, but Ennis is one of the better rakes going around. I won't complain about 2 years. Also, we bought the young roosters hooker and have nu brown. Both of those guys can be progressively introduced from the bench if they show enough.

Ennis is a fighter. Will do what it takes to win. Good tackle numbers, actually runs from dummy half and can kick better than our halfback. No brained if you asked me

Ennis is a solid hooker. Tackles well, runs hard, and is reliable with the ball. This is a massive upgrade on what we have and I can't really see the negatives. We have all been complaining about our hooker situation and finally the club is addressing it so I think we should be a little excited.
