Radley is (imo) the best ball playing 13 in the game but his enforcer side lets him down - bit of injury, bit of suspension, bit of distraction
He’d be a better player if he toned it back 5%… but probably not as fun to watch
Radley is to @burgess1978 like Tolman is to @Gards

I at least partially blame it on his parents for naming him something which rhymes with inflicter.

If they'd named him Croft or Bentle he may have turned out soft and gentle, like the way he treats his teammates' nether regions.

I bet Luke Covell wished his parents named him Meed or Blast.

Brown is a good 6 but certainly not worth that to us

I personally think Yeo is the best ball playing lock in the game
Depends on your definition. I think Jurbo, JDB, Yeo, Murray all do similar roles. They are effectively "the halfback of the forwards", and they all do a great job of attacking around the ruck and holding defenders for shits. Yeo is probably the best at that currently, though the others are all great too.

Finucane and Carrigan you could say are "ballplaying" too, but I'd say there play is more about specifically playing around the ruck than it is about being part of shifts or setting them up. They are both wonderful players, but there role is a subset of what the guys above do.

Imo Radley does a different role to any of these players. He will play second receiver, he will stand in the middle and join a long shift like a hooker, and he will run in to corners to throw a long pass to get back to the middle. Those other blokes aren't doing that. He is not a ball-playing lock. He's a hybrid five-eighth/middle.

Was trying to think of other players that could be described as this. Gavin Miller was the first who came to mind.

And before anyone blows a fu fu valve, I wasn't saying that Radley is anywhere near as good as Miller was.

It's great the way coaches are changing roles based on the players skills. Those who do it well have a definite advantage. It's happening across the park with ballplaying locks, roaming centres, running halfbacks, fullback halves...
I feel like half our clunkiness is that we're still finding how to adapt roles to suit our abilities

This is a very try sunning up of the locks. I love Finucane and prob wouldn't change him for Yeo. But I like him because he ball plays a bit and is tough in the middle like Jurbo

Yeo surprises me every time I watch him play. I must subconsciously underrate him.

For what it's worth, Radley looks to have 2 TA's already this game.
