I'm still trying to figure out how a fullback is supposed to support play through the middle every tackle, yet also sit a couple of passes wide for the backline shift.
Watch Tedesco - he doesn’t stop running off the ball.

I know it’s an elite example but just watch him in between play the balls ..

Ponga's not too different when he's working.
Paps... when he's working...

You really would expect Teddy to break at some point. Though he's been through that and seems to have worked out how to keep on the park nowadays.

Tedesco's is a different role in attack though. He's almost primarily about following the ball in case of an offload, loose pass, unexpected gap.

Kennedy is part of pretty much every expansive backline movement we make, particularly on the right hand side but on the left regularly too. He's expected to be there and I'd reckon that his teammates would be so confident that that's where he'd be that they'd even feel comfortable with a no look pass to him.

If Fitz wanted him playing a Tedesco type role instead I reckon that's what he'd be doing.

The styles aren't mutually exclusive. No reason Kennedy can't be following a forward on a hit up inside our half, and sticking to the edges in the opposition half.

I'd agree our attack is different. Or at least has been. We like to have halves that run each edge for structured play. As you've said, Teddy seems like an extra half that waits t pounce on some second phase play or eyes up player who's spotted a bit of an opportunity and shovels it to Teddy to see what he can make of it.

It is because he isn't bad defensively. He is good at picking up balls of the ground. Safe under the high ball. Organised defence well and is usually in the right position. He may not make miracle tackles regularly, but he shouldn't need too either.

I feel like Kennedy really needs to work on his positioning so I am interested why you think he is good at it?

Also regarding, organised defence. He looks like a quiet guy. Anyone that goes to the games, is he vocal telling everyone where to be?

I would be absolutely shocked if any player could play more than a handful NRL games at fullback if they were not adept at talking and organising the defence. It’s their primary job.

I question it because I believe he gets caught out defensively often, and seems like a quiet guy.

Watch him closely in a game, when he's back from injury. When we're defending out line he's very forthright in telling defenders where he wants them to be.
I think he's usually in the right spot to clean up kicks as well, so I can't really see an issue with his positioning.

Doesn't need to be loud necessarily all of the time. Organising the defence is largely done by pointing.

If I am a defender who just missed a tackle and is running back onside, I am trained to look up at the fullback. He is trained to point in the direction I should go.

Probably worth noting too - the loudest and bossiest players on the footy field are not always the loudest and rowdiest off it.

Worth noting though if we as spectators can't see/hear it that supersedes the opinion of their teammates, coaches, and other people directly involved in the NRL
