If someone is asking for a release typically its because there's a better deal elsewhere or they need to move for family reasons or both. Assuming they are staying in the NRL and not going to Union or Super League.

Putting on my detective hat - If it's the latter it's probably not to NZ as they're going to be based in QLD so defeats the purpose so might be a QLDer wanting to go back home ?

Or someone just wanting to get paid.

Looking down the list there aren't many who look like they'd be underpaid for this season or that won't have a fair opportunity.
Maybe Tracey or Metcalf if they thought they could go up the halves pecking order somewhere but unlikely as both locals and wouldn't clear up much money anyway.
Teig Wilton (to bunnies) maybe?
Moylan if he could get a longer SL deal but you'd think he'd have exhausted that before signing 1 year to stay.

After all the headache keeping the ****er and then he didn't even bother to play well it wouldn't worry me that much tbh haha

Yep, also a strange time to ask for a release with the new coach and new players. You'd think/hope most would want to stick around to see how we go. Surely the club/players are excited about what's coming as the fans are but again back to someone being homesick or a longer/larger contract on the table elsewhere can be tempting.

IF it's true, assuming it's not anyone we just re-signed there's probably only a few i'd be annoyed if they left - namely Katoa, Ronnie, Ramien because we're already short centres as it is. Maybe a few forwards but also not really.

I think he's already on 250k ish - or something reasonable. Tigers paid decent money to get him from the Eels but that could go up alot when he's next off contract in 2 years
