Not sure it's that fine... The separation isn't always that clean, and you don't want to be left with an $800k hole in your forward line mid season in any case

Depends how much you want the player.

Whilst losing a forward mid-season isn't great, it's not as bad as losing a halfback.

Also, I wouldn't be comfortable paying him 800k or signing him for 4 years.

Gus is at Belmore now. If Thompson was good business I don't think he'd be getting shopped.

Had arguably his best game against us missing 35 tackles & he still got binned & suspended 3wks. He's a liability, can't fork out premium buck for that. Anyone seriously think he's worth Fifita 2016 money??

Also more than we are paying Finucane and McInnes

Two years subsidised is worth talking about, 1 year subsidised then 3 years not isn't.

Well if Bulldogs can't clear cap by moving Thompson maybe by moving Elliot

https://www.smh.com.au/sport/nrl/bu...t-nrlw-player-in-company-20210823-p58l5g.html

In (very minor) trouble again the very next time (supposedly) he drinks after ****ing his best mates fiance.
Is White Rhino a strip club? It sounds like a strip club.

If club really wants to get rid of him they should ask for a drug test, a little kiss may have just been the cover story...

At this point probably safe to say he will get himself in trouble again yet.
Maybe him Duges and Scott can all sign somewhere and play on an edge together?

I laugh when I watch shows like RBT when a cop approaches a car and asks the driver if they have had anything to drink. I gave up grog 30yrs ago and can smell grog on drinkers from a distance, similar with tobacco, you can smell a smoker.

So how do professional footballers have a drinking problem when they are around their team mates at least 4 days a week in close contact and not be exposed? Toothpaste and mouthwash can only cover up so much.

the problem isnt alcoholism, its the fact that they give up alcohol during a season, take supplements and eat extremely healthy, then go on a bender and the alcohol reacts worse than a normal person

Yep it's the same with plenty of athletes, they're just not as recognised by the public as much as NRL and AFL players.

Rowers in particular are horrendous on the juice when not in training.

Not sure that is THE problem, but probably A problem.
Some people are just ********s when they drink, or are ********s and that gets exenterated when they drink.
Every chance not being able to drink as much during the season is why Elliot doesn't get in more trouble rather than why he gets in so much when he does.

But I agree that having a drinking problem is not the same as being a problem drinker.

Sharkmates bloodhound like way to sniff out drinkers probably does work for some actual alcoholics but not sure Elliots teammates are gunna be too fussed if they smell alcohol on him after they were out drinking together.

Seems like there is more than meets the eye to the Elliot drama also.
Likely not enough to warrant public persecution but possibly contributed to Bulldogs decision to stand him down.
A couple of Manly players (where the chicks brother plays) re-shared posts about it on insta calling Elliot a rat.
Just seen as a bit of a brocode violation or another example of Elliot making moves where he really really shouldn't?
