He won't be a star here, we need to bolster the forward pack! This has to be priority it won't matter who is in the halves if our forwards are getting bent over

yep agreed. the halves are dependant on that
I understand the talk about spines etc., but you need go forward to do your thang!!

We have that many off contract. We can get Nico and bolster the forward pack.

its not insane to suggest he will be worth 500-600

we have to pay it if we want him

He comes and plays 6 which means we let Moylan go and keep Trindall and SJ to play 7, Thats a 200-300k per year saving that can get spent on the forwards.

He would give us great full back cover but we need some grunt for this to work.

I'd be comfortable with this... that is still cheap for a half.

This past month has been his first consistent crack at starting and playing 80 mins (IIRC), and he has been dominant in those performances.

Yes, he is playing with a great pack, but if we can get Liu and one more pig (hopefully Finucane) that will tighten our middle. We have McInnes coming in too. Plus, we have Toby for the next few years, plus more games from Talakai and Hunt - I don't think our forwards need much tweaking. If BHU can get back to playing well, Williams is improving and Teig will be better for another year. We are not far off.

It's not cheap at all. He's playing more fullback than in the halves.

Look, I'd be more than happy if we got him but $666k for someone who has played sfa in the halves (in NRL), in a great team and in a great system. It's too much at this stage.

I get it. We are paying him on potential rather than on what he is probably worth at this stage - but I think we need to take a gamble on him. From what is available on the market I don't see anyone else as better value - and do we miss out on a potentially great signing over $100k a year?

I'm happy just to site back and watch what Fitz does re player signings. If he want to pay $1 or 1mil then it is what it is.

Will make for a pretty boring thread though!

Agree,
With his pedigree as a assistant then waiting for right gig. Tells me he will be a career head coach.
Last things we wants is to go in offering crazy money at short term fixes that not only put the salary cap on tilt but also harms his long term career aspirations.
I’m happy to let him steer the ship

I don't think anyone out there wants Moylan. I think we could keep him reasonably cheap and have him be an option with Trindall and Hynes. I am still worried about Kennedy's impact without him.

The whole, being worried about kennedy's impact I keep hearing I think is a bit silly.

Johnson has barely played this year, Kennedy will need a couple games for the combination to form.

Townsend sucks and he is going to North Qld and he has been out consistent half back.

Next year we will have McInnes playing lock, I would expect him to actually increase Kennedy's involvement as he can ball play very well.

On Moylan, if he is happy to stay for a year on 300k, I would be happy to keep him.

Fair point, but SJ played most of last year and Kennedy wasn’t producing like he is this year. That could be because of the off-season he had and the added confidence that gives - rather than just being with Moyza.

Happy to be wrong. I think SJ is great for the club.

We still need a marquee signing for mine. I don't think we have a real breakout player emerging for next year and we looking at a team of guys who are just about worth $500k each.

Really want Moylan or SJ to be that player, but deep down there they lingering delight allow your long they'll spend on the field and their ability to ice those big games
