I'm not reading anything into that at all.

Would be very easy to bang on some weight once retired and not subject to compulsory training. I'd probably do something similar.

Exactly. For guys whove spent the last 15 years in pristine shape, a year away from the standard of training they are used to would make them feel probably pretty ****.

I hated the Chargers big time .. I was playing in the Qld Cup and every few weeks they would take one of our best players away.

Looking back now, nobody could hate Captain Charger!!

They used to dip into Group One a bit too from memory.

Group one maybe. Group 18 they used to dip in to but I think that was back in the Seagulls days. When I played there was a Tweed team in the Q Cup who had a few players and we had a few too... plus because we had a few of their players there was a bit of a thing where they could approach any of our guys for a trial contract. Not sure exactly how that worked, but in addition to the guys on ARL contracts they took a few of our Q Cup contracted guys for 4-5 games throughout the year.

There was a forward from Lismore with the surname Durham, I think. He was tough and pretty quick for a second rower but a bit on the small side compared to a lot of the other forwards going around. He used to get a call up every now and then when they needed him.

Yeah that's the one!

I think he was a full time player for a few years there. He might have even been playing Q Cup games at some stage too so I might have played against him!

In my second ever game I played against Andrew Neave; I hit him up at the end of game handshake, told him I was a huge Sharkies fan and we had a beer after :)

Makes sense. I thought I remembered him returning to Group One during his playing time with them as well. The Northern Star Newspaper used to cover his career pretty closely at the time.

Andrew Neave huh? Awesome!

I think he was only full time for 2-3 years. Before that (Seagulls days) he probably went between.
