What you on about? 600k a year to play football is bloody decent. Sure it isn't just go out and play, there is all the training and other things. But let's be honest about something, during their football career they are hardly "working" as such for a living. They are doing something they bloody well enjoy and want to do. So getting paid 600k a year to do that, they can't complain.
You've missed the point entirely.
2010 pointed out that gone are the days of offering such players that amount of money due to increases in the salary cap. Yes 600k to play footy is decent, but that has nothing to do with it. When an Australian/QLD representative is off contract, they get offered market value and 600k is below market value. Precisely why 2010 pointed out that offering him that amount is just foolish.
Let me put this to you. If you were in the top 30 to 40 people in the world in your chosen proffession, would you just take an offer because 'Yeah seems pretty good, I shouldn't be making this much doing my job anyway.' **** no you wouldnt, you would whore yourself out and see exactly what you CAN get. Doesn't mean to say you will take the highest offer, but you'd be ripping yourself off if you didn't at least see what's out there.
The whole 'Football players earn enough/too much for something they love to do.' is such a tired and stupid excuse. It makes zero sense.
