I read on sportal I think it was yesterday that we're looking at Cordner for 2017 to take over the number 13 jersey when Gal retires. Need more then 1 player though obviously with all the players we'll lose but it's a step in the right director I think.

Will Lewis go around another year after 2016 do we think?

Admittedly I haven't seen a lot of his games, maybe 10, and I can't think of one game where he has stood out. I'm guessing he must have something I haven't seen because he keeps getting picked in rep sides, but I haven't seen what all the fuss is about.

I think Wade has more impact on a game that what Cordner or Josh Jackson does.

Yeah he's a good hole runner, doesn't really do the grunt work that Lewy or Wade do though. Not worth the coin it would take to get him imo.

The aging forward pack will be an issue. I'd give toops and heino another year, with possibly an option in the clubs favour. If taga can keep this up give him another year or 2. Prior deserves another 2 and wont be expensive. Will also probably assume gal and lewis could retire after next year. So end of 2016 we will have money to burn in the forwards.

If we retain for the longer term: A fifita, Wade, Prior, Boogs, Taga + D fifita and Arona as depth. We are still atleast 4 forwards short with good money left.
Some good names off contract in 2016 in tamou, klemmer, burgess x3, tapau, Grevsmuhl, papalii, tariq sims, soliola, cordner, lowe, jackson. Some not worth the money they would demand though.

You'd think we'd almost have the money to get 1-2 stars, upgrade our young backs, and then look for more depth/bring through some of the younger guys.

If so good news. Why go out and buy new players When they
Are all playing good footy.
Keep them at a good price don't pay overs and keep some in the back pocket.
All playing well and deserving on an individual basis. The issue is we will have a massive face plant in the 2017 if we don't get some young quality forwards in. I'm not sure this is wise.

On the other hand, we could have Fifita x 1 or 2, Wade, Bukuya and Bird (if he goes to the backrow) and then whoever we keep (Prior, Taga) or pickup between now and then. That's not too bad of a starting position plus a wad of cash with Gallen coming off contract. It's still a bit down the track so who knows what happens.

Its market watch. Sign up who we have now, on short extensions and monitor the market. Its not really a bad move. If there isnt a lot on offer this year for the same money, id also wait it out til next year to go replacing everyone.

Need to make sure we plan our recruitments around bumping up Holmes and Birds contracts, as well as fitting in players who are sure to be hot property as they graduate Holden Cup

To use a cliche it's our premiership window now. Worry about rebuilding in 2017 next year not now, doubtful 2 better forwards available for next season anyway to replace hino and toops

This year and next is our best chance of winning the flag.

I'm really hoping Gal pisses origin off next year. Surely a premiership ring is more important than origin.

Yeah the ageing forward pack is something the club will need to consider next season. Obviously some good scouting in NSW Cup will be better for us than signing a big gumby like Cordner as a marquee to fill a role that he isn't suited to.

Fly-away line in a Guardian article reckons that Dan Sarginson from Wigan may well end up here. Wot

l think we should hold off until we see how the 6 interchange works. Might need lean mean fighting machines that can defend and take gaps. i.e Cordner

Heigho, Luetele and Taga set to re sign with the sharks - read on an article on sportal

Good signings but think Taga only worth a 1 year deal. Has been pretty ordinary the past 2 years so keep him hungry going into next season

Happy with those re-signings.

Hopefully we can also wrap up Tupou and Prior.
