This thread is just... Wow.

Calm down, hang on to both nuts. It'll all be okay.

So long as we sign Chad as well I won't be upset with Robbo getting an extra year.

We will be losing (I assume) Murphy and Stanley as backups next year, and Tracey isn't ready for first grade.

That leaves Nu as the only real halves cover besides the option of playing someone out of position.

It sounds like he will be resigning without the expectation to play first grade, and I really doubt he will sit on the bench as an impact player.

Nu and Bird can both cover for halves depth. If we re-sign Robbo next year we are a bigger ****ing joke than I had ever imagined.

Seriously flanno! FMD Can he not see how ****ing useless Robson is?! Brown is our future 14, bird can cover in the halves along with Barba. Should be re signing Murphy before even thinking about giving this bloke another year.

Heigho deserves another contract to IMO

In fairness, it does sound like he'll probably be third choice (at best). Robbo acknowledges that himself. If he plays NSW Cup and does some coaching as well, I'm not too worried. I actually don't mind the model of having older players slip back down the grades. It used to happen a lot in the old days. Many great players used to finish their careers in reserve grade. I reckon it would be useful having some older heads around the younger squads. Everyone in the club loves Robbo and I'm sure it's not without reasaon.

So, if it happens that way, I'm fine with it.

I'm not. If either of Maloney or Chad (assuming we do actually sign him) cop an injury you can bet Robbo will be back in first grade. I'd rather see Nu or Bird be shifted to cover in that scenario. I can't cop anymore Robbo after this year. It's ridiculous.

I wouldn't be happy with that either but I'm not going to preempt the coaches selection decisions a year in advance.

Going by that Fox Sports article, it doesn't sound like Robbo has an great expectations of first grade.

If robbos being re-signed on the basis of being popular and a good bloke, why not just offer him a gig on the coaching staff.

Maybe there isn't a full time gig available? There might be a part time role with one of the junior teams or something though. He can supplement his income with a second tier playing contract or something.

I agree with Slide. That interview seemed pretty clear that he is not signing on again as our first choice half, and as ordinary as he is, he's not the worst back-up option if there was to be injuries.

I think Bird will play centre, and hopefully Nu is playing in the 14 on a regular basis, so I don't think he will be keeping him out of the side.

Or another job that doesn't involve playing football ?
