Penrith prop Ben Ross has called on the NRL to explain why he was suspended until grand final day after a spear tackle, while Sydney Roosters captain Brad Fittler won't miss a game.
Former Australian captain Fittler yesterday pleaded guilty to a grade one dangerous throw on Canberra's Matthew Gafa and received 93 demerit points, meaning he is free to play against the Warriors on Sunday.
Ross was banned for six weeks after his lifting tackle on Canberra's Jason Croker on July 17. (He also received a three-week ban for striking.)
"The anger has sort of gone but it comes back when you see the likes of the Brad Fittler incident," Ross said yesterday. "I just wish they'd be consistent. I copped six weeks for a tackle that I did which I thought wasn't bad. I had some blame . . . but his was a single tackle so he had no one else to blame and he gets off without a week if he pleads guilty.
