Didn't know whether to post this in the Flanno thread or this one lol:

NSW prop Andrew Fifita says Cronulla coach Shane Flanagan is the man to thank for his fine run of form going into the Origin decider.
State of Origin III: Andrew Fifita says his spot in NSW squad is down to Cronulla coach Shane Flanagan

Andrew Fifita believes the decision by Cronulla coach Shane Flanagan to start him from the bench is the reason he has become a State of Origin front-rower.

The giant prop was one of the few NSW players to emerge with any credit in the disappointing 26-6 loss to Queensland in Game II in Brisbane and was outstanding again in the Sharks' 36-22 win over the Wests Tigers last night.

The 23-year-old scored two tries, raced for 144 metres in addition to clocking up 34 tackles after coming off the bench against his former club.

Fifita is almost certain to be included in Laurie Daley's NSW team which will be announced tomorrow evening but admits he would not have been in with a shout if he hadn't been benched earlier this season.

"It's the best thing that has ever happened to me and I wouldn't be in an Origin jersey if Flanno hadn't said to me he wanted to start me off the bench," Fifita said.

"My impact on the game has been excellent and I am just trying so hard to bring that momentum for the boys."

Maturing into a great player

Flanagan said Fifita has matured into a top grade player over the past year, having been allowed to leave by the Tigers with question marks over his off-field attitude but not his talent.

"Andrew's growing every week and he understands the game better," Flanagan said.

"He's a big powerful thing who can move as he showed with the tries he scored.

"His form's been great, his attitude has been great and Origin is going to be good for him and he'll learn so much out of it.

"He likes the No 8 on his back, but he's growing into understanding what I want from him off the bench and it suits our team.

"He is a front-rower who is going to be around for a very long time and will do well again in Origin."

Fifita began his life as a winger before a growth spurt in his late teens.

His first try against the Tigers stemmed from a 50m run and then an outrageous sidestep to bamboozle Tigers fullback James Tedesco.

"It was on so I thought I'd use it as Teddy (Tedesco) would have chopped me down around the legs if I had run straight at him," Fifita said.

"I started out on the wing and I knew I could do it and thankfully it came off."

Anyone who hates Flanno needs to read and understand this article!

The players like him... other clubs players want to play for him.

and without ruffling too many feathers, I think the players are possibly more qualified and have more of a direct insight into his coaching techniques than most of us armchair critics

(not saying that putting someone on a bench makes them The CoachMaster or anything though)

But he still can't coach for ****. He could be the greatest players coach in the game but that won't win you a premiership. And he is a ****ing idiot.

Yep. It hasn't gone unnoticed mate. I keep a record of his **** ups. I still haven't forgiven him for the drug scandal where he was proven to be a liar. That seems to have gone through to the keeper. And then the reports of the presentation where he basically **** on our new sponsor...it's a worry. I'm certain there are a few wire's crossed in his head.

And also the reports of him being the most annoying and persistent complainer to Daniel Anderson every Monday. Give me a coach with some form of intelligence.

Haha, if he ever travels through the hunter valley he may find himself bail refused on a trumped up charge. My bail conditions would stipulate that he not go within 1000 metres of the Cronulla Sharks.

What mouth guard does he wear?

It disturbs me why you want to know this?

Won't work, he'll just make a call to his assistant coach like when he got the boot earlier in the year. You'll need some conditions around phone calls too. Ankle bracelet?

Yeah watched that last night. he likes to give woods a kiss on the field.
Then went on to say he kneeded him in the scrum accidentally.
And went over to say sorry.

Just a question ?

When 2 or 3 of Gal, Lewis, Toops and Wade are back to full fitness do we give Fifita a week off to rest. He's had a massive year and i'd hate to see him burnt out before the finals. Thoughts ?
