Seemed to take bit of a step back and be less involved tonight with the return of Captain Gal

I don't think it's injury/fatigue because the runs he did make were still great and he still played well just not at the same intensity or level as previous weeks. It's funny how some players go harder when they are given more minutes/responsibility

If Wade is going to be co-captain make Fifita vice co-captain!

Yeha i noticed that too... Im enjoying Fifita as captain it's refreshing, more so then even Graham who is very quiet for a leader.. some are born for it some arent - Gal deserves his final year as captain but needs to let the younger boys lead now.

Will donate his Origin match payments to charity if he’s picked. Someone in the media will still find a negative spin on it though.

It's actually pretty smart from Fifita.

It puts the NSWRL under pressure to pick him or in an awkward position if they don't.

It's pretty hard to not pick the best NSW prop available. And now that he has announced that he would donate his match payments to charity it would make the NSWRL look uncharitable if they left their best prop out.
It would be a different story If he wasn't currently the best NSW prop. They could just say so and so are playing better and get away with it, but Fifita is leading the Dally M's.

Well done Fif's. Smart move to get your origin jersey (which you fully deserve BTW).

It will be interesting to see how this now plays out.

It shouldn't change anything. He's not committed to the series, he shouldn't be picked

Happy to agree to disagree HB.

I think he is torn between representing Tonga and Origin.
He wants to honour his heritage (and make his family proud) and also represent NSW.

Tonga is not considered a top tier nation which gives him the opportunity to represent and honour his heritage (as many players before him have been allowed to do). It's not his fault they are Scheduled to clash.

The NRL MAY have even done it deliberately to create these issues and draw more attention to both series. Who knows?

This is an NRL issue, not a Fifita issue. Fifi didn't write the rules.

Freddy can pick whatever team he likes based on the qualification criteria. He should do what he thinks will help him win. Team continuity is just part of an equation.

Agree. I wish the series was a pick a 25 man squad like the 4 nations etc then pick your 17 each game from it
I'd rather they didn't. Mostly based on the fact that there is a lot of football going on at that time and injuries are going to happen. It wouldn't be so bad if it was a stand-alone tournament but it's a bit difficult with week-to-week club football being played in between.

It was reported today by David Riccio that "Fifita will be rested for the game v Newcastle". Whether that report is true or not remains to be seen.

If I'm Newcastle, I use that as motivation

I don't think it's being overconfident or disrespectful though, Flanno would prob think Fifita genuinely needs the rest and is still recovering from injury and has Gal, Lewy ect back on boards

there are no easy games but Flanno is prob looking at the whole season

Yeah I agree with this.

I genuinely hope that this is the case and it isn’t a case of Flanno taking Newcastle lightly. Like you said here’s no such thing as an easy game in this League and if Flanno does take the Knights lightly, it’ll bite him in the arse.

I don’t think Shane’s that stupid though.

I think its more a case of having wade, lewis and gal all back and giving fifita the rest he needs. Hes played huge minutes in this last month carrying the team while our other star forwards were out. A week off is probably going to be good for him.
