Forget being defiant and righteous, all he needs to do is show genuine remorse for a stupid act, put his head down and continue to play well, and good things will come back to him. To do things any other way will just end in tears.

But he shouldnt have to. He appologised for any undue distress it may have caused to the kelly family which is all that he should have to do. He doesn't owe anything to the media or the nrl as he isnt doing anything wrong. If you have any belief in the current justice system then you have belief in rehabilitation. Rehabilitation cannot occur without friends and family being there for those convicted.

Any pain or distress on the kelly family or fifita is purely on the media. Without a story this simply goes by as a silent act that is appreciated by a friend in a tough spot.

Good on him for not backing down, someone needs to stand up and stop letting these slimy pricks write articles that dictate decisions in the game, because the nrl surely arent going to.

Don't blame him for wanting to leave the game. The NRL gave in to the drama-queen press and threw him under a bus. Cowardly stuff from them.

"Good on him for not backing down"......there's your problem.

So do you suggest he should say, "im sorry for showing support to a lifelong friend who's in jail"? May as well appologise to the media who have sore fingers from typing out so many articles about this crap.

I thought the media would cease to run the NRL after News Ltd left but not much has changed sadly.

Absolutely, he can show support by keeping it to himself, no need to make a public song and dance over it, which he's done, and it backfired. A good mentor or manager would say " Andrew, you got it wrong mate....this is what we are going to do to make the mess go away........". However, he's going down the path of no gain, lots of pain, especially once you start threatening legal action in this sort of matter.

I agree legal action is futile and id even be happy to tow the no further comment line. I dont think he needs to change his stance though as he's done nothing wrong. Im sick of seeing us having to roll over to the media whilst other stories are burried. There is a path of least resistance but that means bowing to PK and his cronies and I understand why he doesnt want to do that.

A public song and dance? How the **** was a coded message to a friend making a public song and dance?

He needs to get a grip, he just won us a Grand Final and now he wants to walk away because he didn't get picked in the kangaroos squad, who cares, most players don't get picked, regardless of the reason, even if he was eligible he may not have been picked...

If you do stuff that's deemed distasteful but some (and I am not saying what he did was or wasn't in my view) then you should be prepared for the consequences. If i went to work branding a convicted killer I probably would be in the **** too.

Get over it Andrew, move on, let's look forward to next year and start doing the right thing off the field to make both the sharks and yourself look better then maybe you will get picked next time around.

NRL wont give a damn if he wants outs, in fact, most NRL fans will be saying good riddance to him, its only us Sharks fans & the club who will feel the pain.

What are your thoughts on him not getting the CCM because his name is Andrew Fifita?

Thats the funny part isnt it. It wasnt until weeks after he had that little code on his arm that the press started on about it so when fifita actually did it, he wasnt hurting anyone.

I can understand the nrls stance on not being allowed to have things supporting crime or whatever written on u, but i think the most forgotten point of it all is that the guy in jail isnt some guy fifita just heard about, hes a mate from way back

yeah even though it would definatley be exaggerated it hurts no one but sharks fans. He is just such a hated figure, everything he does is magnified.

I disagree with that, he was definitely the best on field.

I doubt the way he's feeling is solely because he didn't get selected for Australia, it's a snowball of a few different things. The fact he wasn't given the CCM when he was CLEARLY the best player on ground would only be adding to his resentment. You can't blame him, really.

True. But hopefully he can see if he was the best player in a grand final (despite not getting the CCM), that he is a great player and just needs to keep his nose clean and he could be a huge force on the international stage, not give up now.
