In nutshell it was a 20 second interview and Fifita said something along the lines of this

' We have a real bond here, were all mates. Much stronger bond than what we had at the Tigers. Here we don't have any little groups or seperate dressing rooms, we just have a real strong bond together and we all get along really well. We brothers here.'

I read that as "blonde" when I first looked at it

I love hearing this. The culture at our club is obviously bringing out the best in these new guys like Fifita and Carney

Massive problems at the tigpies. This has been happening for awhile with the benji and Farrah problems. Maybe Gibbs was the calming influence at the tigers and now it's just two separate groups

I have read somewhere that Gibbs was the reason the playing group stayed together. That's their loss i guess

I think if anything, having such a huge recruitment drive in 2011 has been the best thing for us, not so much quality of players, but its not a case of 3 or 4 new faces trying to fit into the club and meet new guys, but half the top 25 are new signings, not to mention a few old faces coming back.

So much better having 12 new faces bond with them, than just 3 or 4. The new guys wouldnt feel like new guys as they are all in that boat. 2012 is definately a new year for the Sharks, not just another season

Been thinking about Fifita's form early on this year and I think he's been ordinary except for some good grafting efforts in defence.

However, he needs to be treated by fans and the Club as a 3+ year project player rather than expecting him to play to his potential now, at age 22 (or so). He's still so raw- physically and mentally. Still building the strength, hardness and discipline that he needs to be a really top NRL prop. But if the Club can keep him working hard then the long term payoff will be huge- that footwork, fend and ball skills can tear defenses apart.

Great point.

Props of his nature don't usually come into their own until they shore up their game a bit and fill out the frame. Around 25 is when we will start to see Fifita getting good metres every game and putting our quicker men through holes with his offloading ability.

It's almost perfect that we have Ross (past his prime but still a couple years left in the tank), Gibbs (In his prime) and then Fifita (still developing and hasn't reached his potential). Something that I feel isn't mentioned enough. We have the mix of youth, experience and players that are entering the best form of their playing careers.

If we sign 2 quality outside backs for next season, I think we can be a real threat to the competition. This year I still have hope, but we still do lack a spark out wide that the top teams have.

Ross has been very impressive this year IMO

Agreed. Been quite happy with him. I knew he would come in and do the job needed, so I guess it's just pleasing to see him perform to a level we need him to perform at. His ability to spin out of the first hit and gain extra meters has been valuable. Gets a quick play the ball of those tackles he bounces off.

Yeah good point. I remember reading a few weeks ago (cant remember where sorry) bout Des Hasler and the work he did with Tony Williams. When Manly first signed him Dessie appernetly said he was an outstanding athlete but it would take 3-4 years of work on every aspect of his game before he would reach fg level. Hopefully we take the time needed to devolp Fifita properly.

Yeah I haven't been that impressed, but I got abused for expressing that view. I agree though, and this is one of the problems with having under 20's instead of under 23's - props usually don't get good until they hit around mid 20s.

He has potential, it was an awesome bust he made the other night and I hope he continues to improve.

Good example. Williams and Moi Moi were the two that I had in mind as similar types. Huge talents but learning on the job about how they can use their talent to dominate week by week... It takes time, but look at the payoff for those two clubs. Hope we show similar patience.

I just love how he has a good highlight reel that got played last year and had everyone ****ing themselves. And to date apart from the last game when he made a break then threw a stupid pass to bring all that undone he has done nothing. Both he and taga are just taking up spots in the team at the moment.
