It was great to see fifita having a laugh at the end of the game with the manly winger.
Do we really want this bloke with a gut. He has lost the plot and will be very hard to be a good player again.

To me it was like laughing at a funeral.

Fifita did his best. Just got to get rid of that attempt to shove the opposite player after every tackle, and he will be right again.

Yeah ....Nah
At the moment Fifita wouldn't be worth $500/season, far from it
In fact, am very surprised that he didn't approach this game with the "I'll Show Em" attitude to show us that he is worth every dollar he is hunting for!!

I think he did try & do just that, but it resulted in him overplaying his hand.

Im referring to the vave talk. Wasnt much better at melbourne, but they won in 2012, blemishes are over looked.

Now we are in last these blemishes are more obvious because we look more and are more critical.

We need 4 or 5 big changes next week.

Holmes (if eligible) to 1.
Gordon
Wright (later ayshford)
Leutele
Feki
Carney
Fifita
Morris
Gibbs
Arona
Graham
Sopoaga

Heighno
Lichaa
Fifita
Taga
No halfback is a massive change. I have a feeling if we run out with 12 were going to get belted...

At the moment i am seeing this bloke as a real risk to potentially sign up long term. He has been ****ing useless this year. Will we see the form he produced last year again? Is this bloke fed inkum about playing for this club? Has all the hype gone to his head?

At this point i honestly wouldn't offer him a contract longer than 1-2 years. 4 years in my opinion is a huge risk especially if we're going to be spending 500k+ on the bloke.

What are all of your thoughts on this matter?

Would love to hear what you all think

i am not going to defend him, but just think about what he is going through

he told his team mates that he was leaving after round 1

now, his world has been turned upside down. there was a huge fan backlash, i am as guilty as any for that

not only does he have to re-negotiate a contract after he thought his future was secure

i excuse him for having his head all over the place, but he needs to get it sorted sooner rather than later both on and off the field

Won't be happy if we're dumb enough to stick to our original offer. As others have said, the market dictates a players worth and his market value has gone down, may not be his fault but that's how it goes. We should change our offer accordingly.

I love the big unit but I have a few question marks over his temperament. I'd be very worried paying big money over four years.

won't happen, he will re-sign but it will be our contract

the dogs issue wont have a bar on us

Most likely not, but good to dream (at $600)
Anyway, we need to retain him (@ $700 wasn't it?)
We need some quality up front as we will soon start to lose Gal, Gibbs, Lewie, tupou to retirement.

now is not the time to low ball him, especially when the nrl have asked every time in negotiations with him to hand over the final offers tabled to fifita

we will offer what we can, and he will re-sign. it's how it is going to play out, whether we like it or not.

but again, its not the time to stiff him, it's the time to honour what we wanted to give him, when we demanded he play the loyalty card.

once that happens, we will have our integrity and the dogs will be further smeared

Can't see us changing our offer down (as much I would like it to to help accommodate others).
I think Dragqueens are still sniffing around for abt 6ers, aren't they????

Would we have offered what we did originally if the dogs weren't competing though?

This is another bugbear of mine - player's salary amounts being tossed about like everyone knows what they will be paid. I'm in recruitment and people's salaries are very private and not to be discussed with others.
Who's to say that he doesn't get signed for a lower amount - it probably won't be the club or Fifita that makes that public - it'll be leaked by scummy player agents. They are probably the ones most at fault.

Just annoys me that people post player's salaries like it is gospel but unless you have seen that contract you don't really know. It's all guess work.

I don't think the dogs where the only ones we had to compete with?
I think Souths, Dragqueens, rorters all had interest, so I think although dogs reported at $850, the others may still have been high 6's low 7's??

Its dragging on isn't it, I can appreciate its a big decision & all but they definitely aren't rushing things are they.

"Graham has already signed on the dotted line.
You said that you didn't really want to leave the Sharks.
We are still offering you a stupid amount of coin!
Sign already Fifi".

That's my take on it.
