Warriors fan here.

Keen to follow AFB at the Sharks. He played big minutes at the Warriors and I understand he will be playing shorter and more explosive at the Sharks. You have the pack where he doesn’t need to play as long.

It will be fascinating to see AFB play with with your forwards. He makes your big pack, huge!

Yea imagine how crazy our pack would have been if we also managed to keep hold of Royce Hunt who found career best form in 2024.

It's not just about the size of the pack though, Sharks have had big bodies in the forwards for a number of seasons but AFB also brings us more aggression and leadership and a bit of that nutcase kinda mongrel and bite we have been lacking at times.

Even back when AFB was at Manly I was thinking we need someone like that in the pack, can't just have a team of nice guys but he was a bit loose back then when it came to discipline and what not but he seems to have matured at the Warriors without losing that desire.

Sometimes I forget he signed with us despite him being a seriously good pick up. Won't sink in until I see him running around in a Sharks jersey for us in Rnd 1.

AFB has signed with us on a contract that will take him into his mid 30's so I am hopeful that reduced minutes will also reduce the wear and tear on his body and keep him at a high level for as long as possible. We don't want him getting burnt out too early like JT3 at the Cowboys who doesn't seem to be the same player he once was.

Under the Warriors he lost the mongrel. It was noticeable after a big knee injury (caused by a clash of knees) that he changed the way he entered contact and lost the venom and agreesion.

Still made huge meters but done as more a bulldozer by shear size and power with plenty of post contact meter but at slower motion and less ā€˜impactā€. it also allowed him to stay injury free and play longer minutes.

He also has that late footwork which gets him into holes and he’s a great option close to the line, scoring lots of tries.

So a powerful man but mellowed. At least that was at the Warriors and our tactics. With shorter minutes and more venom he may play different? It will be fascinating to see!

Hoping that a change of scenery was all that he needed to release the beast within.
