Personally think we should take this as serious as possible.

My team would be:

Will Kennedy
Shaun Johnson (c)
Sione Katoa
Josh Morris
Ronaldoooooooooooooooooooo
Jackson Ferris
Josh Dugan
Connor Tracey
Blayke Brailey
Toby Rudolf
Billy Magoulias
Wade Graham (c)
Jack Williams
Tieg Wilton
Briton Nikora
BHU
Daniel Vasquez
Franklin Pele

If our game plan is like the good parts of the Jets game plan, we should carve this up.

At this stage Moylan is an absolute shoe in until otherwise is confirmed. Also surprised you haven't listed your mate Ramien.
Xerri is a walk up start if fit over one of the last two names.

I'd probably take Jack Williams out too, he can struggle a bit laterally and under fatigue.
Matterson could come in if we signed him.

Moylan has the worst hamstrings in history and you want him to play 9's?
Ramien like you mentioned with Williams isn't good laterally and would get carved.
Xerri has had 2 shoulder surgeries this offseason, he can miss this.
Matterson in if we get him.

I agree. Don’t care what it is, if there’s something to be won no matter how significant we should be taking it seriously. That’s how you develop a winning culture. Go all out to win the 9’s every year I say.

I think Ramien still gets a squad spot, even if he isn't in top 9 & if you have Moylan in your squad and want to take it "as serious as possible" then he gets a start.
If we are worried about hamstrings that's SJ out too.

Not sure the extent of Xerris shoulder surgeries, obviously happy for him to sit it out if they had any doubts about condition.

Tracey with his speed would be very handy in the 9's

Johnson is a no brainer, might have lost his speed but he's all class and makes people look foolish.

Xerri would be good too, whether they risk him with his shoulder surgery I don't know.

sj just got through a 9's tournament and got in the team of the tournament

moylan cant get through a captains run

ramien is a no - a game breaking centre with the ball, would be absolutely found out without it

xerri would naturally be in but his shoulders are a no

same as fifita, let him rest

If we are taking the tournament seriously I doubt we take Jets bench player Daniel Vasquez over Ramien/Moylan.

SJ had legs problems in 2019 and went well at international 9s no reason Moylan shouldn't be able to get through NRL 9s four months later unless we also should expect him to be out most of the NRL season.
If that's the case whether he gets hurt in 9s, trials, or round 1 or 2 probably doesn't make a huge difference.

I'd much rather Fifi not go but I can imagine he'd be pretty pissed if left out.

Get the g train in there!

I was hoping the same thing! I reckon he’ll ask for a call up in the next few years. Happy to give him the year off though so we can miss him a bit more

Insurance for what? His smile? I feel like he’d be less likely to get injured than half our squad

I think we had him signed and ready to go for the second Auckland Nines, and the insurance company refused to cover him

This thread needs more Jangala Bennet!!!

If it goes the same as the NRL Nines went last time most teams will have a mix of NRL players and young players. If you are picking your best team of a similar mix, while factoring in existing injuries, injury-prone players, resting old blokes (Morris) etc. I'd expect to see 8 or 9 of these guys in the squad.

Paterson, Rudolf, Milne, Trindall, Ferris, Kula, Ngaronoa, Bennett, Lorenzo Mulitalo, Polselli, Talakai, Wilton, Lualua

Some blokes (if fit) are automatic selections: Johnson, Graham, Kennedy, Katoa, Nikora, Tracey, Mulitalo, Magoulias, Williams and BHU would be a decent core.
