The Dolphins look in all sorts this year, bottom 4 looks likely although it is early days.

Is it a good idea to have Bennett coach a team short term? I'm not sure it is.
It's good if he manages to win a premership (Souffs, Dargons).

Not so good for Knights.

Probably hard to judge Dolphins as it was a start up club.

In fairness he got lucky with the Dargons one.

He inherited a team that Nathan Brown had assembled and we all know Melbourne got kicked out of the finals for the infamous salary cap scandal.

There's no way on earth the Dargons win the minor premiership or that premiership if Melbourne were still there.

Ahh. The infamous asterisk (*). Something I remind my Dargons mate whenever premerships come up!

Definitely would have been harder but I don't think it's fair to say they wouldn't have won it. No one will ever know.

They won 2 minor premierships in a row - 09 and 10.

The lesson to learn from them is if you can be up for a couple seasons in a row the landscape can be totally different.

No Hayne Plane or Melbourne Storm to worry about in 2010.

Our 2 best pre-premiership seasons were 88 and 99.

Minor Premierships and out the back door. Then we fell off the cliff a year later - knocked out the first week of the finals.

The Dragons too went out in straight sets in 09, but you gotta give the merged scum credit for being up again the year after.

We're they? I didn't know that
Yep, just a boring story compared to what else was going on at the time, and it was obviously very minimal

But they brought Gasnier back from Union on min wage and back ended it to get to value and still were over. Realistically they probably shouldn’t have been able to sign him, and also needed the Storm situation to get them over the line.

Gaz deal shooting up would contribute to them not being able to maintain.

My favourite asterisk will always be souths making an agreement with Balmain to boycott the grand final and then turning up at the ground anyway to be awarded the premiership by default.
When did that happen?
