Does Chad actually crab across field? I mean, he could be playing ****, but this crabbing across field thing seems kinda random.

Did they? When was that?
He played 2 years for Mackay. They are a Cowboys feeder.

He was signed to Mackay though. No Cowboys deal. Anyone in the league could have signed him at that point, and all 16 teams opted not to.

BHU most of us know debuted for the Cowboys and was a force in that game for us Sharkies

Yet Chad & Holmes whom went the other way from Sharks to Cows were trash in same game that was playing for a cup representing a bloke that played for Cronulla and went to coach the Cows

Cowboys fans reckon they have some elite halfback talent coming up through the junior grades - won't save em this season though

Poor ol Chad Townsend is copping it deluxe over on the Cowboys forum (not the only Cows player mind you)

After a little over 12 months and just a few months into a classic 'Bad Chad" season the majority of them are done with him and looking to discard like a used Kleenex although few are willing to replace him with Hampton lol

Funny how all the roles posters assumed @ Sharks Forever in regards to Chads position in the Cronulla team have more or less been taken up and replicated on the Cowboys forum

You have the defenders, the haters, the agitators and the delusional - it's like Bizarro world

It's remarkable that we had Nicho Hynes playing for us last season on less coin than Chad Townsend. Nicho Hynes that even on a $Million a year ongoing looks good value and hasn't even peaked as a player yet

Meanwhile Cows are paying a fair portion of that same sum of money for a bloke that is crabbing across field for no result, missing tackles and not even kicking well anymore.

But Chins up Cowboys fans, I hear Chad does a great VLOG about installing a BBQ on your deck

I had a look there earlier today and it was legitimately around 85% of the game day posts were a pile onto Chad.

Tough **** to them I say, we tried to warn them, but nooooo, they actually were trying to rub his signing in our faces. Now they’re learning the hard way. **** em.

Now they need to sign Flanju and replace him with Shaun Johnson after Holmes goes to chase his NBA dream

Who?

Not much happening in their Q Cup teams. Maybe someone in 20’s I haven’t heard of.

They overpaid for Chad to get him to move and he gave them what they wanted. Classic halfback to steer them around.

When they played well he did his job and they looked good. Now they are playing **** and the same issues he had with us on the back foot are apparent.
It’s his fault they aren’t going well in so much as they spent extra cap space on someone who is a long way from a game breaker. But last year and this year are just the same old Chad we were used to.

If he’s crabbing it suggests to me he’s looking for some runners who aren’t there.

Maybe instead of whinging about their overpaid halfback, Cowboys fans should worry about their forwards getting them on the front foot and their runners pushing up.

Not much happening in their Q Cup teams. Maybe someone in 20’s I haven’t heard of.

In terms of halves Tom Duffy (Blackhawks) & Jake Bourke (Top 30) get some mentions along with Brandon Finnegan (Cutters) - but I think your right they didn't actually give them as big as wrap as I thought and you would know more about eligibility and pathways from those relative comps and how it relates to the actual current contracts with the Cowboys NRL club than me.

They were actually going on about 18 year old Karl Oloapu (5/8) from the Dogs with the Flanno to Manly rumours- is meant to be rated very highly

They are obviously not happy with Nanai in the second row at the moment - they have big wraps on young second rower Heilum Luki. Has played NRL for Cows but just coming back from injury but they want to see more of him. One to keep an eye on for the future perhaps.

Also seems unclear when or if Tamou will be back from injury to play another NRL game before he hangs them up

So in summary typical forum speculation and clutching at straws cause they have some players in terrible form and are missing half their starting forward pack - no much different to what goes on here in these pages when things aren't going well and sometimes a fan just gotta vent or at least see some evidence of trying new things. some "hope"

Otherwise you back your squad and systems and work hard with the intention of it coming good sooner rather than later and that top line players coming back into the squad can make up the rest of the difference.

The Chad crabbing criticism comes from his diversion away from his 2022 role of being the organising half not looking to be the play maker (e.g as first receiver pass it to Deardon, Drinky ect., kick long, put in grubbers, make the tackles you need to and so forth) things he did pretty well in 2022

But that whole team has issues this season and they arn't getting the points through Nanai that they were last year, forwards injured and it all starts to fall apart, maybe a bit of complacency too thinking it would all just click again like it did last year, not putting in the extra efforts across the park and you get what is happening to them now.

They would need a Nicho Hynes level of halfback to try to salvage something behind that badly beaten pack right now but there are players outside of the forwards letting them down too

I don't think they are gunna be in 16th place come end of season but making the 8 doesn't look promising either - they will bounce back just a matter of when and how well/how long

Duffy is good, but very young. Still finding his feet in Q Cup. Probably a few years away.

Bourke hasn’t been playing in the halves for the Blackhawks. Bench utility. Could be an NRL player but starting 6 or 7 is going to be a stretch.

Finnegan is ok, but hardly a prospect. He’s 25.

I think they will go on a late season mini run and get some wins together, but they will miss the 8 and then be competitive again next year
