Strange one. I guess if you're the defender and the tackled player plants it before getting to his feet you can deliberately kick the ball away?
Yep
No matter how much you’ve wasn’t fast ptb you can’t ball plant

While technically not allowed seems to mostly viewed more like a lose carry - you can do it but anything goes wrong it’s on you

I understand throwing the match is illegal and it would start ww3, but what if they rested players and lost that way ???

I know intentionally losing to the Raiders so you can play them again first week of the finals is the cowards way out, but it's also smart, raiders suck lol !

I'm being serious, as a knights supporter I feel bad, I feel like you just made your life harder than it needed to be in the name of honour and ****,

I respect that hell out of that, but it still seems unfair somehow dude ...

The new rule this year is that you have to be on your feet before you plant the ball, otherwise you're responsible for what happens.

Fox guys seemed to think Sharks were unlucky not to get the penalty.
Slater thought the same.

I’d rather have a home semi than have to play Canberra in Canberra. I don’t care that it’s the Chooks, home semi is much more preferable.

Agree, and if we are going to make any impact on finals no use being afraid of the roosters. Them and Raiders have nothing on the top sides

A mature performance, proud of that. Played fairly conservatively in first half and got into the grind doing the set for set thing. Didn't push the issue or chance our hand too much, just defended and got the ball up the other end.

But in the second half as the Raiders tired and we found some momentum and more time and space we stepped up the attack and reaped the rewards.

Was good to see we have some different gears and went into them at the appropriate times.

I saw the clearest delineation of the Hynes/Tricky pairing yet, with Hynes doing the kicking on right side and Braydon on the left but Hynes still being the main man running the ball into the line and looking for weakspots on the edges while braydon helped straighten our attack and keep their middles honest with insides balls to our props and second row.

Seemed like there was some passion and excitement in the crowd too and amongst the team which was nice. Need that going into the finals.

Outside of Rapana, Wighton and Timoko the Raiders really seemed to lack firepower. Tapine didn't seemed to give us too much trouble.
They overall seemed a bit flat but still didn't make it easy for us as usual.

While I still don't think we are quite at the stage to challenge the Top 3 teams and I doubt we will this year (especially if out of Sydney) it's good to see some learnings start to be put in place (because we have had many lessons over the last 12months+) and that Fitz is showing some sort of adaptability and leanings away from being outright stubborn with how he deploys his troops.

Also thought the ref was spot on with nearly everything, let the game flow but called out the obvious infringements and got some tough calls correct. Ricky shouldn't have too much to complain about in that regard but I reckon he will still find some things. Haven't watched the pressers yet.

Was just nice to watch a game of set for set footy without soft penalties breaking it up and giving the other team an undeserved easy out and to focus on the game and not the drama and controversy. It was enjoyable to see the 2 teams gameplans come up against each other in that first half and then for things to really change up in that second half.

The Raiders focus on going up our middle on yardage sets and then trying to exploit our far edges on attacking sets probably would have got the Raiders alot more joy earlier in the season against us when our defense was far less settled and not working as well or as hard to turn back and/or keep out the ball carriers.

Happy for Wade too, he deserved that but now gets another home game at Shark Park to hopefully rack up another win for us down in the Shire.
Well said mate. I'm more impressed with our current play style then last year.

Last year (and first half this year) was all about attacking shapes and fancy football. We caught other teams by surprise (and probably ourselves). We never went the set by set grind.

The last 6 weeks or so we have seen an obvious shift in out playing style. Whilst we are by no means perfect, I think we have finally found our DNA and blueprint for years to come.

A full off-season honing this style with our new halves pairing will only make us stronger.

Sorry, all I do is steal them off twitter
Ha. I was only joking mate. Covell never scored runaway tries like Gardner. He was probably the slowest winger in the history of the NRL.

But Annesley will say it was okay.

Not a new rule. The NRL just decided that this year they would start enforcing the actual rule that has always existed.

Having your free hand on the ground is actually perfect play the ball technique. The bunker ****ed up here plain and simple.

You can't plant the ball if your body/legs/knees are still on the ground, but that was not the case. Ramien got to his feet and played the ball in the exact manner players are taught.

Really? **** I do.
I initially thought he drove him into the ground, on second watch I see it more of a **** up and he kinda falls down on him/with him.

I feel like the straight referrals are generally for the more malicious styles of play.

In saying that, if the grade 3 was 7 weeks I'd think that was fair too. I feel it was a grade 3, and therefore can cop whatever punishment is set for that.

Something is wrong with the NRL

No tripping charge for Rapana this week!

🤷🏻‍♂️
I reckon he thought about it when Williams brushed him by when scoring.
I think it's pretty spot on. Grade 3.
Anything more would have had to come from a straight referral to the judiciary and I don't think it was that bad.
Gee PS, it was one of the worst I have ever seen. Dropped him straight on his head. I don't think 5 matches is long enough either.
