Don't think we got complacent at all. Defence in the first half was absolutely outstanding given they had 60% of the pill, a lot if that's attacking our line.

No team, not even Penrith, can keep gifting the opposition ball and keep that standard of defence going for 80 minutes.
Defense was good for 60 mins, they still had to lift or match Knights energy. The ball watching and lack of urgency or alertness on loose ball was annoying also

As disappointing as we were, we can at least take one positive out of it.

There can be no doubt, confusion or false confidence in our team leading into the semis of our form.

8-3 penalty count against us leading to them having 60% possession was not helpful …

Our defence was immense but these stats wear you down in the end …

What makes you think he managed the game beautifully last week?

Fitz on Hynes last week: “He’s the spirit of the team.
He drove the team, kicked well, defended amazing, got asked plenty of questions and ripped in.

“He controlled the game plan and he’s developed even more as a half, so I was more proud of tonight’s performance from him than some other ones he’s had.”

Trindall supported Hynes but Hynes runs the show. This week when Trindall had a chance to step up he capitulated.
Yes, got bugger all help from Moylan, no denying that.
I meant for his part. He managed his part very well. His kicking was great, he made good decisions.

With Hynes out, they shouldve kept it more simple, put Moylan back at 6 on the left, Trindall on the right at 7, have both play their familiar roles. It looked like they tried to make Trindall play like Hynes, swapping sides with moylan in attack, then trying to do too much by going side to side. With Tracey in team better to play more direct and simple, both halves stick to their sides
Doesn’t Trindall play left usually?
do you think trindall wasn’t ‘at 7’?

Does Moylan usually play on the right?
No
So whichever way you play them it’s one on wrong side. Makes sense to me to accommodate the guy actually in the team for a (hopefully) one game fill in

Tricky is a 7 and has played most of his footy there, thats where they had them start of the year when Nicho was out, makes sense doesnt it, ones a five eighth and the other a halfback. Moylan doesnt usually play on the right, and also hasnt been playing alot of footy in the halves in the last month, better to put him back in his familiar position in a more simple/basic role as a running five eighth. Its like they wanted Trindall to defend on the left and then swap sides during attack, then u had the side to side attack come back, having Moylan try do what he was doing with Nicho and Kennedy. By now Tricky can play both 7 and 6 so one game back at 7 wouldnt have mattered

Wait you think the 7 jersey is attached to a side of the field?

Woah. I'm aware that's not the case, and correct me if I'm wrong, but I think every current club has their 7 playing/defending on the right and their 6 on the left.

I'm saying Moylan is a five eighth, and has played mostly on the left side of the field where five eighths usually play

So wait, do some of the people insisting Trindall is a ‘natural halfback’ and Hynes is a ‘running 5/8’ just want them to simply swap sides?

This time he played on the right side and was still a 5/8

Seemed like Fitz was more concerned about Moylan defending on the left but he probably wouldve been ok with Wade there now.

That I agree with - biggest fix to that side is Wade

I’m think Moylan not being a defensive travesty last season supports that too

You’re wrong ;)

Halves have a preferred side of the field no matter what jersey or position they are.

Sean O’Sullivan, Sam Walker and Luke Brooks are three guys who usually play 7 and prefer the left side.

Burton always plays left but sometimes switches jersey numbers.

In lower grades, both Nicho and Tricky have predominantly been “right side” players regardless of position. Tricky 90% and Nicho maybe 70/30.
