Where's the integrity of the competition being upheld for Penrith in this scenario?

Congratulations on being the best team all year, oh by the way we're forcing you to play your best team in a game that means nothing to you, hope no gets injured, good luck.

You are missing my point. Last year, Penrith drew cows last round and rested everyone (even Ivan i think), Cows got an easy win solidifying 3rd. On top of that absolutely criminal win vs Tigers, they shouldnt have been near the top 4. That easy win pushes 1 team out of the top 4 and puts them in. How is that fair on the competition at all? Not to say anything is guaranteed, but the Panthers (or any team) resting 90% of its top 17 tampers with the table and shouldnt be allowed.

You get teams beating other teams during SOO as well that they wouldn't normally beat.

Sometimes you get lucky.

Its a bit different as they arent basically naming a whole new 17 for the game.

I just dont agree with the “they earned the right” ****, every team in the comp has the right to a fair competition. I dont think teams basically tanking in the last round offers that.

I get the vibe of what you're saying but practically speaking how is that much different to them beating Salmon/Cogger lead Panthers during SOO?

Or a team being fixtured early against a team whose star player doesn't return until mid season.

All kinds of **** happens which affects outcomes, this is just one the team has a little control over causing - but they have put themselves in position to have that control.

We finished 2nd and Cows beat us so while they may have not 'deserved' their finish position, they were up to it

Yep, and realistically to win you need all the luck you can get.
That might involved being lucky enough to be able to rest some blokes.

Comps not fair

You don't even have a home and away vs every team
SOO ****s with it
Injury ****s with it
Suspensions **** with
Ref errors **** with it
Rule changes and interpretations **** with it - you can lose a bloke for three weeks for a tackle that is barely a penalty again by the time he is back, or you lose a player to injury and get a penalty but the offenders suspension benefits two other teams.

I didn't miss your point, I completely disagreed with it.

Every other team had 20+ weeks to push Penrith so they didn't have the opportunity to rest players and they failed.

Cowboys do seem to get kissed on the backside a lot .

This week - we will be playing our 3rd game in 12 days - via Perth - while they have been sunning themselves at home the whole time without even playing .

We still have a shot though …

Nah mate, i watch games but im pretty well done with this cesspool of a forum. Its been a stained butthole since they day we won the grand final

Pretending like you haven't added your own efforts to making it that way at times is pretty hilarious.

You had an opinion, people disagreed.
Get off your high horse before that butt gets any sorer.

I don't think the Cowboys (or any team for that matter) should get to play the consistently best team in the comp (Panthers) in the final round 2 years running due to Panthers likelihood to rest players following a very likely successful regular season.. It's not like they have some famous rivalry or special annual round between themselves that locks this schedule in.

Someone has to play them in the final round but it should be rotated around to other teams, perhaps a team from last years bottom 4 - gives them a chance at a moral boosting win but won't effect the outcome of the Top 8 (assuming bottom 4 team has had another crap year) or just completely randomize it so it's fair but their are TV and logistic schedules to meet so it will never be completely random for a NRL draw.

The draw is complex and is swings and round-da-bouts

Cowboys have to play Panthers twice, we only have to face them once

Season after season we seem to get gifted x2 games against Dragons, Tigers & Bulldogs - I don't know why (outside of Dragons) but these are all near certain wins for us

The NRL are still making up for the 7 tackle try we scored against them. You'd think they would be over it by now!
