Good win, like that were getting aggressive with defense, keep building. Would like to see Moylan more in the middle against tired defenders, another attacking option

What’s good is we are piling on points without using the ball playing fullback in attack

That’s crazy for us

@BurgoShark - random question on the short side end of set kicks. Is this tactic to ensure the kickers get the kick away with the least amount of pressure?

Really? I thought we moved the ball through Tracey quite a bit in attack tonight.

Certainly not the same player WK is, but I thought he was still a focal point in a lot of plays tonight.

Usually our backline tries consist of WK passing it but I don’t remember Tracey being amongst it

I might be wrong though

I have 2 thoughts on it, is there just less defensive pressure from the short side? Less pressure, more time to kick.

And also, does it allow for a more 'directional' kick that pins the receiver in the corner and allows the chasing defensive line to close in around where the ball lands to keep them in the locked in a corner?

More than one way to win. Imo the best way to play is the way that suits your players’ strengths.

It’s possible. My take would be that it is more about where the kick goes than where he kicks it from, and Nicho would rather put the ball in the right area than go deep.

E.g. If you are kicking to Turuva in a corner it means To’o has to run 60m to take a hit up. If you are kicking to AKP it means Sami has to run 60m, and you can’t be burned by an early shift to AKP.

Not usually.

Most times a skinny short side is the worst place to end a set. It’s unconventional. More from Fitz than Nicho imo. Nicho would be following instructions.

Throwing **** at the wall here… but maybe they want to catch a winger out of position and execute a 3 on 2 on the last. On a skinny short side the winger should be up, but if he’s not it’s free metres and your winger can kick in behind.

Or is it, just to put pressure on the defensive centre with the winger pushed back to receive the kick? And just hoping they make a bad read or a become lazy expecting a kick?

So is it just about sizing up an opportunity to shift the ball wide to run on fifth to create an opportunity? It kinda fits with our attacking mentality.

A bit of a lot of the above I think

Easy to compress in on pinning them in corner too

Fitz clearly likes it

Good match, a bit dull in the second half. Will probably give us a false sense of security ahead of the Knights game.
That 10 minute period in the first half notwithstanding, we were in control. Could have been a lot uglier had they leveled the score. They had all the momentum at that time.
