Was an awesome day, was up there in that Debaucherous sponsors tent area, in the Sharks Jersey. Great memory. Even Kearnsey was secretly happy for us that day, Ben Mendelsohn not so happy.
I was sitting in the commoners seats. Less legroom than a Tiger Airlines flight.

I did like how they had the smoky old school kebab caravans etc for food choices.

Yep and when the "Smoke" was billowing from those funny terrace stands with the Bro's. Classic Days at "The Graveyard"

If nothing changes nothing changes.
Starting to think that long term extension to Fitz was a huge mistake as hes unable or unwilling to make the hard calls that need to be made
Crikey - where does this talk come from?

Coach Fitz gibbon has been at the helm for what 38 games.

With no where near the budget of the Roosters / East’s, souths etc, Fitz has produced 25 wins , 13 losses for a 66% winning percentage - second only to Ivan Cleary & Craig Bellamy.

Unless you can bring either of those two coaches here - we are going backwards.

Why do you want changes & “hard decisions to be made”

I assume you want a premiership & you want it now.

Cronulla fans, better than anybody know premierships are hard to come by; we have won 1 in 50+ years;

I loved watching Flanno build a premiership winning side - Lewis in, Ennis in, Barber, Jimmy in etc - it took Flanno longer than 38 games.

Why bail on Fitz so early?

Having patience & being realistic allow me to enjoy watching this team - just as they are.

If we're in the same situation this time next year (unable to beat these top 8 teams) then maybe the extension was a mistake. Am giving him 1 year to prove himself.

Honestly those stat's are pointless. Most of those wins are against the bottom teams which is a fact.

It's all Nicho's fault mate, if he comes to Cronulla and has a normal transition year into the halves none of this would be happening.

Instead the bastard decided to be the best player in the comp. Selfish prick.

I would say that Fitz has done the smart thing by locking in a top 6 side for the next few years. It gives him plenty to build on, a bit of breathing space (not on here necessarily) and a platform to be able to add players that will improve the side, not having to constantly take what he can get to plug holes (I pity the fools who end up in that hole). All things Fitz-given, I can't see how he could have better played the hand he was dealt for a successful few years ahead.

But that's all about managing a team... We'll see how good a coach he is in the next season (or more likely two) as the likes of Wade and Moylan cycle out and a good number of players hit their 'peak' years. I don't see a premiership window as such right now, but there's definitely an opportunity to crack it open.

I think it’s the fact that there has been no improvement over 2 seasons now - yes early days for sure but if this squad was given to another coach would they do better ? We usually beat teams we’re expected to due to our roster but rarely beat teams that are alike/matched

Our record is pretty bad we’re just lucky we don’t have to face good teams pretty often, even though early days it doesn’t mean he escapes criticism from things like player picks, bench, game plans, re signings, defensive structures, forwards improvement, game management plans etc

In these areas I feel we are underdeveloped and that is a coach thing - I don’t want us to be a club that just coasts by and before we know it we’re 3/4 seasons in with no improvement and our premiership window is gone because now we do have a little window and with some improvements we could get there

Team was guilty maybe of over achieving in last years home and away season. crazy talk to think extending Fitz was a mistake. Jmo & Johnson sure as siiht wouldn’t be beating many top eight teams, nor the 10-12 teams above us as we bang around closer to the bottom than the top of the ladder. I do agree we look a length off the top couple teams currently but sport can be a funny thing.

Do people believe we genuinely have a premiership window at the moment? With all the criticism of the current squad (and coach), the top 8 record and how we were bundled out last year it's hard to imagine many believing we are gf bound this year.

And how many of those 25 wins are against top 8 teams?
We had a soft draw in 2022 yet bounced out in straight sets
And so far were 0-5 against top 8 teams in 2023.

I think there is an opportunity, but I think the real window opens when Finucanes and moylans contracts run out. Our younger squad will have that Extra finals appearances and we should have plenty of time to find those perfect additions to the squad. Nicho will be more
experienced and we'd hopefully finally have the perfect half partner for him. Will Kennedy will be the best FB in the comp at this stage.

Any great results in the next two years is just a bonus

We are very close to it if the coach can make smart swaps/purchases in the transfer market but we seem to be quiet in that area

We can also change things within the team like dropping certain players but we seem to not want to entertain that either

Silly re signings instead of smart new signings are also a killer because they send us back not forward
