It’s not that it’s just that we don’t respect the ball at all. We haven’t all year.

This has been the first game where the possession has actually been against us while not respecting the ball and we got what we deserved, and really it’s been a long time coming.

What’s ultimately concerning is the side seemingly has no backbone this year. Discipline and handling has been a staple of the Sharks since John Morris took over (the players are largely the same too, what a coincidence…). The difference between this year to last year particularly is severe lack of communication defensively to defend these errors, and the lack of leadership and composure when we fall behind.
This. We don't respect the ball, field position and posession. Our defence is a problem but any teams defence is much worse due to this. We make ourselves work much harder than we need too.

Just got home from the game after commiseration beers on the way home. Apologies to the crew at the preorganised venue but ended up at another pub in the city because of the way our feet ended up taking us.

Man, I gotta say, that was one of the worst Sharks efforts I can remember.

I didn't even end up that upset by it. I was expecting Melbourne to clock 70+ and I think we were only saved from that because of the sinbinnings etc causing the whole game to fall apart in the final 15.

I learnt a few things though.
The current squad will never challenge for a premiership, not even in the next 5 years. Maybe scrape into the 8.

What else, Nicho has put too much pressure on himself and tonight he fell apart.
Something needs to be done to force him to lighten the load. Love the bloke and he's capable of anything but tell him to settle down, do the basics and it's not his job to create everything.

We need some good intimidating forwards. Not sure if we have any $$ left in the kitty but we need them bad.

Also, there's something wrong in the squad, they're not playing for each other and not prepared to put their neck on the line - that comes down to Fitz.

I picked a good game to not watch. No forward over 100 metres is an embarrassment, Moylan putting up Maloney-like-negatives but putting up Robson-like-positives. Katoa 37 metres. Kaufusi 11 metres ??????

Ok got to be some people dropped after that.

One thing that is clearly evident as the season has gone on is, Hynes is starting to transition into the full time traditional hands on the ball all the time Half back where as the start of the season Moyza was running the show when Hynes first returned from injury.

To me, this does seem like it has been the plan with having Hynes slowly take the reigns over the the season with either Trindall or Atkinson slipping into the 5/8th role come 2024.

Tonight the team got killed up front, mistakes didn't help, but no team, no matter how good your backline and halves are will win with no go forward. Remembering the current game his heavily reliant on momentum (going for the 2pts didn't help when on the front foot)

Kaufusi and Hunt as the starting front rowers is not really going to scare to many packs.

Hunt is an impact, short bursts, Oregan just seems like a too nice a guy to have any mongrel.

Going to go out on limb, but Matt Lodge type starting front rower is what is needed.

Uele and Hunt coming off the bench, Rudolf starting with someone (Lodge/JWH type)

That was a soul-crushing loss yesterday.

I know it's just a game, and I may be overdramatic. I have no enjoyment in the game anymore.

I hope the Sharks can recover and go on and have a decent rest of the season. I'm not going to be invested as I was once.

Don't take it too hard mate, it's just a game as you said. If the players can laugh it off after the game, so can we.
With your interest for Ancient History, I'm sure you can dig some highlights of years past to lift your spirits up. Say 2016 or even further back :D

That was the most embarrassing performance by this club I have ever seen! Absolutely disgraceful. If there are no changes come Tuesday then our coach really is just a good bloke and has no ****ing idea.
