Has anyone seen Sticky's presser? Went for all of about 80 secs. Fronted up all by himself. Too funny.

We were on a hiding to nothing anyway if we made top 4 and having to play Panthers, Storm or Broncos. If we came second and had the Warriors at home that could have be doable but second is gone.

Could work out nicely for us if we hold onto 5th and maybe get a game at home vs. Knights or Rabbits which both would be winnable games.

**** coming up against Raiders though, they don't look convincing as a team right now but we know what happens when we play them and could potentially have them 2 weeks in a row after our final regular season game is against them so will depend how results pan out.

The Top 4 is pretty scary though, all teams that if we progress past week 1 and 2 we will eventually have to play out of Sydney (except Panthers)

Would need something pretty special from us to get to a prelim and I don't think our defense is where it will need to be yet

Still improve on last years finals campaign, get back to pre-season and build for 2024. Obviously would be nice to go all the way but doesn't seem realistic. We could fluke a win against Storm or Broncs but not Panthers I don't think, and not in a final these days. they are too well sorted

Hate to admit it but you’re right. Would love to see the warriors win it though somehow. They’re my smoky. Brisbane will crumble imo. Warriors Penrith gf

For current top 4 Warriors are the lesser evil

SJ will annoy me though, acting like they didn’t chuck him on his arse to begin with - actually they have quite a few unlikable players but still, they aren’t Penrith, Brisbane or Storm, and did stick it out through covid

I’m hoping from a selfish point of view we win first eeek then v storm second week down here. But last year I thought the footy gods looked down on me when we lost first week, because I was in Sydney following week waiting to fly to Fiji but history shows I should have went to Fiji earlier than to trudge out to shiny new alliance.

re-write history twice

first team to win it after copping 50

first team to win it outside the top 4

easy as
Any stats on which teams haven't copped 50 this year? Feels like a lot of the field would be out of the running

Warriors winning would be good for the game but make me feel a bit less special as a Sharks fan as another club breaks their duck. At least we will never see the Titans win it

You really wanna see us get pumped in Melbourne? Playing the Storm down there as a Sharks team and in a final is a death sentence. Even in 2016 it probvabaly would have been.

Thrice

first team to win it after not beating a Top 8 team

Our best chance for a run in to a prelim is probably drawing a home game Vs Newcastle week 1 (I'd throw Canberra in there but frankly.. I'm sick of losing important games to Canberra and don't want to be burnt again) Leading in to warriors week 2.

Does anyone have any stats around how many times we have played Raiders or cowboys in finals since 2013? I feel like its over half our games..

I’m with you both in that it feels like a lot and that I also can’t be bothered checking

I've done the math, going back to 2012 it actually is half. 8/16 finals games have been against either Raiders or cowboys. We've won 3 of those 8 and only won 6/16 total.

2012 week 1 v Raiders lost
2013 week 1 v cowboys win
2013 week 2 v manly lost
2015 week 1 v Souths win
2015 week 2 v cowboys lost
2016 week 1 v Raiders win
2016 week 3 v cowboys win
2016 week 4 v storm win
2017 week 1 v cowboys lost e.t
2018 week 1 v roosters lost
2018 week 2 v Panthers win
2018 week 3 v storm lost
2019 week 1 v manly lost.
2020 week 1 v Raiders lost
2022 week 1 v cowboys lost e.t
2022 week 2 v Souths lost.

Nice work WS.
That 50+ list looks pretty on track...
The rest shows what a crazy season this has been. Anything could happen from here on in.

16 is quite the outlier.

You know it goes .
Sharks finish 5th with home ground final advantage
VS
Roosters sleazing into 8th .
NRL says that Final must be played at a Stadium , Roosters home ground as Shark Park is too small.

Thats not true. If it cant be at Shark Park we can take it anywhere in round 1.
My understanding is if we are against Souths or the Roosters we will take the game to CommBank.

I would still rather finish top 4.

5 to 8 is knock out so no second chances
