Yeah I think Kelly will get the start. I’m pretty sure unlimited interchange in this game so we’ll probably get to see the Hynes/Trindall at some point
Kelly being a half can probably cover 6, 7, 9, 1, 13 and 14 (do I recall him playing on6 the centres too?) so hopefully we'll see tricky get a run in the halves, at least for a bit

No free interchange anymore for being on the end of a reportable tackle, unless it’s a sin bin / send off.
Going the smaller pack will be even more important now as most teams where abusing it for a ton of extra free interchanges.

I'd assume Kelly starts, but not be much. Would love to see game start with those three in spine.
Would be a great chance for Trindall to show he deserves to start the season too.

This game is 12th Feb, our trials are Feb 20 and Feb 28 so it also shouldn't affect too much how we line up for those other than maybe getting a few guys off a bit quicker than they maybe would have if they hadn't played All Stars.

As I read the change announced we can now expect that in the case of a head high tackle the player copping the head high tackle will definitely be failing their on field test if the offender just gets put on report
&
we can expect that all sorts of other tackle offences will surprisingly require the impacted player to require an off-field " concussion test " when the offender is put on report .

Feel like you've been calling that since mid 2020
But you're closer than ever this year
While he may not get the start (he still might) I think he'll probably get plenty of NRL time and be well placed to take over as a clear starter for next season. Will show there is no need to keep Moylan again (will revise that statement if he is clearly way way better than Tindall all year).

Game Day Policy Amendments

Team List Announcements – To complement the addition of the 18th player rule introduced last season, team announcements on Tuesday will proportionately increase from 21 to 22 players.

Free Interchange – A free interchange will only be granted in instances of foul play where the offending player is sin binned or sent-off. A free interchange will no longer apply when players are placed on report.

Injury Stoppages – With the exception of head injuries, only a referee, touch judge or The Bunker will be permitted to stop play for an injury. Trainers will retain the ability to stop play where a head injury has occurred. Medical trainers will continue to have unlimited access to the field at any time to treat an injured player.

Not keen on the “no interchange for on report” cos the refs are to gutless to sin bin and use that as the default “On report”!!
There needs to be an independent doc who makes the call.

Never, hadn’t even seen him play first grade at that point - you only feel like that because I was calling him to play over Chad knowing Chad is sht. The kid had Moylan and Chad in his way last year, in the end he was the best one left standing.

At the start of this year whether or not Moylan is in his way, Trindall’s had enough time in 1st grade now to know what it looks like to be a good half

calling Trindall to have a big year

I like him. He has some good skill, flair and energy and looks pretty tough. Massive boot on him

It's ridiculous and unfair to expect him to be the complete package off the bat and not being making some mistakes, especially in that shambles of a team we put on the park last season. Give him time and some stability in the halves

Moylan is a band aid, I'm still working out what wound exactly he is covering up though cause he isn't a 7 and Hynes could have easily slotted into 6.

Hopefully the combo fires, Mozza stays fit and we don't have regrets. Moylan was pretty good last year for us (when he was on the field) but we also had less depth and options in the halves, especially after Chad left.

At least Trindall will be around putting pressure on both halves and the up and comers looking to crack a spot

Yea what happens if the foul play results in the opposition player copping a genuine injury that forces him from the field and costs his team an interchange but the 'on report' player gets to stay on the field.

Is this going to influence the refs decision of 'on report' or 'sin bin' ?

Sometimes an injured player will battle on for 5 mins before leaving the field in pain - too late for the ref to change his interpretation or decision then

Yea but that's the thing I thought we were trying to make progress and better protect players, be fairer to teams ect.

While the 'injured' player can game it to get an interchange or whatever but at the end of the day he still had an illegal &/or dangerous play put on him though I guess offenders put on report can be cleared of wrong doing after the fact when it's reviewed a few days later so then the injured player may not have deserved the free interchange

Maybe 2 foul plays (on report or not) from the same player and it's an instant 5 mins in the bin. At least that way they need to be on their best behavior after the first indiscretion. Or have some cards - Green, Yellow, Red. (Warning, 10 mins, Sent Off)

Other sports don't **** around but League gets itself twisted in knots with its rules and feels too much pressure from fans, media, players, coaches ect. We just need tough but fair rules, simple ones that can be understood by official and player and apply them consistently.

Sure a Rugby player or fan might argue if a yellow card was warranted but at least everyone understands the process and it's application

Problem is teams rort it so what's the point really?

Agree the rules get ****ed with too often though, drives me insane. Feels like some people in the game need to justify their pay packets.
