We lacked finesse but the boys wanted the win enough to put their heads in front of boots and knees.

I'm proud of their effort and commitment.

I can't remember Hannay having a whinge about the refs but he was livid in the presser tonight, and I can't blame him.

He also spoke about the effort put in by the boys and said that there wouldn't be a Sharks supporter that would be disappointed with how hard the boys tried tonight.

Yet what I see on Facebook comments is a bunch of plebs saying that it was a weak performance and that the players don't care etc. Bunch of Face****s IMO.

we just put ourselves in that position that made it all the more harder. can't blame anyone other than ourselves.

Yep, we're nowhere near skilled or drilled enough to compete with Melbourne, Manly or Penrith.

Which makes Newcastle even more pitiful.

I felt for Hannay & the boys after listening to his press conference, he seemed absolutely livid on the refereeing performance & I don't blame him, a lot of people were I'm sure. Reading a lot of general comments on FB regarding the game, a lot of neutral fans were saying the same thing as us, being robbed of the game numerous times & saying the refereeing against us was terrible. It also feels like Ponga is a protected species in the game haha.

As I've stated earlier, how often do you see a player being pushed back a few metres into the in goal but being called held as soon as we put hands on him then being penalised for that? Get another soft penalty later & they get the 2 points & thats what gets them the win. Then the 1st half there was also Woods' moment where it was called knock on originally but softly overturned by the bunker?

In saying that though, there were probably times where we didn't take advantage & at least spend a bit of time down their end to get momentum unfortunately.

Probably because they knew he had a right to complain or bring it up, Trent Barrett in his press conference said the same thing as Hannay.

Ive argued in the past about calls - some mind blowing stuff in fact and then in other games its a complete opposite. scratching head moments mate
I feel the frustration. I know today there was some funny calls
but when the call is made the call is made.

Way too low on talent on the park to not have any luck with the ref.
Pretty much all neutrals on discord I’m on thought we were hard done by, between ref and bunker that was a rough officiating effort for us

Whatever Hannay said it wasn’t going to change the score and
would it be worth a 10k fine? I would be happy to chucking in a $1 towards the fine.

Agree.
I was just responding to Chads post that Hannay wasn’t quoted at all in the NRL match report.
He wasn’t quoted as the little he did say wasn’t favourable towards the NRL.

Please tell me the team you would have picked with the available players. Honestly i dont see any different players changing the result. Our game plan is **** and our forwards are really letting the team down

Cronulla ended up on the wrong end of a 9-1 penalty count, though had plenty of headaches of their own making as well.
