Seeing as though we have 100% free speech in this country (lol), I wonder if the NRL would grant a 1 minute advertisement at the ground on the big screen for the "No" campaign, seeing that we are all forced to listen to an American coming over preaching to us in song?

Just stand up in your seat and start blathering your ****. People are free to ignore you if they want. Freedom of speech doesn't mean freedom to have a platform.

Laugh and give yourselves high 5's and think your clever all you like. This is a divisive issue which is not needed in our game. Nobody in our country should hate a person if they choose to live a gay lifestyle. There are many in our country who are hard working Aussies with good families who believe that God ordained marriage between a man and a woman. You don't have to believe that at all. I will nothate you for having that opinion. What I am saying is keep both sides of the debate out of our sporting bodies.

Clean up your own backyard and stop your leaders ****ing children for a start

So those people can marry the opposite sex under the eyes of God. For those of us that think that religion is bull****, we should be able to marry whichever consenting adult we like in a secular society. I don't want to marry a man, but I detest the Government telling me I can't.

Hi Slide. I am not offended or hateful to those who choose not to believe in God, But would like to say that the moral foundations of our society are built on that which comes from the Bible.
I wont have the government telling me as a parent of a young girl, that children as young as early primary age must attend a safe school program that allows them to explore their sexuality and gender identity when they are at such a vulnerable age. If you think this is all lies and not happening, then I am sure you are able to find more information about it. Programs like this have been run in other places around the world for sometime and I as a parent do not want thie government to override my rights as a parent.
Anyway, the whole point of my post was to keep both sides of this issue out of the NRL. All the best.

Yeah, agree. I think it's better that you keep children ignorant of the real world.

Sounds like you're not really interested in freedom of speech or exploration of different ideas.

Couldn't agree more.

I love the fact that currently our democracy allows freedom of speech on both sides Slide. Just think it doesn't need to be done through sporting bodies.

The moral foundations of our society are not based on the bible. If they were people would be stoned to death for eating two kinds of meat in the same meal.

Not quite. I'm not religious, but there is no avoiding the fact that western cultures are based on Judeo-Christian principles. They don't say "god bless the queen" because it sounds cool.

Here's a deal. If we must take politics out of our sport, can we please take sport out of our politics?

No more serving prime ministers up on the podium to hand out the trophy. No more ex-prime ministers in the Cricket Australia box. No more local members holding the No.1 members' ticket at our football clubs and stalking the hill for flesh to press and cameras to pose for. No more front-page Wallabies scarves and Origin bets. No more pollies having beers at the footy. No more 'any boss who sacks anyone today for not turning up is a bum'. No more thunder-stealing speeches in Parliament.

You could also say that Judeo-Christian texts are interpreted in a way that suits modern society. They just pick out the bits that work with their line of thinking and leave the rest out.

So 'Judeo-Christian principles' are whatever the hell people want them to be.

Half of mainstream music is about sex, drugs, cheating or opposite sex love dramas. Some of which have been performed at major sporting events worldwide. No one bats an eyelid.

Yet a bloke makes a song stating his opinion that love is love in any form and some ****tards think that's controversial?

That'll do me...

Judeo-Christian principles have done nothing but good for the world. We are so ungrateful sometimes.

No one would have even noticed if Tony didn't make his own song and dance about it.

Tony's just trying to band the rednecks together.

Yep, he'll take any stance that he thinks will benefit his political career. He won leadership of the Liberal Party, (as the underdog and by a small amount of votes), after he made a dramatic shift in his stance on climate change.

But this should be in the Politics Thread.
