What about relocating the 3 Sydney teams that don't have a local home ground.

They talk about all the heritage of teams like Rabbitohs but they are playing out of major stadiums. I know they are trying to make a spectacle of the sport, but listen to the fans of the sport, they like it in local paddocks. Id rather a Sharks game with 18,000 on a sunday arvo at remondis to a quarter filled olympic stadium

THIS is the important point - our economic-genius, know-all erudite journos profess that it would be more financially viable for us to pay the upkeep & rates etc. on our OWNED home ground whilst we pay rent on another ground 1000's of kilometres away - brilliant stuff! Why haven't we thought of this before?

So neil henry has ruled himself out of contention for the eels coaching role and apparently will be an assistant to cartwright at gold coast. Wonder who is actually going to coach the eels in 2014 ?

if parra get 3 wooden spoons in a row they should be relocated...

#JamesHooperLogic

U don't think 2 in a row already isn't enough? That club is an absolute disgrace atm and should be first in line to be relocated if any are to be.

I don't think it's a very good plan to have so many teams playing out of two centralised stadiums in Sydney. The city is too big geographically and the public transport is poor. People don't want to spend an hour and a half travelling to a football game on a Sunday. They might accept it a couple of times a season for a big game, but not every second week.

Furthermore, Sydney is really a city of cities. Many of the outer areas would be cities in their own right if they were removed from Sydney based on population and density.

exactly right. Look at Manly, or even us. Not only do supporters and players have pride in the team, but also the field. Shark Park, Caltex Field, Endeavour Field, Toyota, Remondis, thats Sharks territory! Just like Brookvale for the Eagles.

Redfern should be a genuine option for the bunnies. Didnt they re-build the stadium or something? Why are they not there?

Dogs could be at Belmore you would think.

And the option of a 4 sydney teams double header every now and then on a saturday night at ANZ would be a good option too. Rather than playing all these games to empty chairs at these big stadiums

The TV deal, whilst its great for the game in a monetary sense, it is not going to encourage people to go to games. Having said that, I went to many games in the 70 s and 80s at Endeavour when we were in the NSWRL and unless we were playing the Dragons we were lucky to get 6 to 7 thousand people. Today our average is more than double that. The media in its endeavour to see the end of the Sharks fails to recognise that 10000 to 20000 supporters of the game in Sydney, are not going to up and support another Sydney based team if they kick us out or relocate us. If they do that to us, who will be next in Sydney? Like many people here, there are Sydney based teams that I can't stand but I would rather have them in a GF than an out of town team because the spiritual home of Rugby League in Australia is Sydney. Queenslanders will deny this because of their State of Origin success but the reason State of Origin began was most of their good players were coming to Sydney to play and whenever NSW played Queensland before 1980 we flogged them.
In another thread recently I wrote how Belmore Oval was a place that I feared going to. The Bulldogs were nearly unbeatable there. As a supporter of the Sharks I feared for my life when I went there. A crowd of 20 000 there has atmosphere, yes many people would not get a seat but it was a fortress for them as Brookvale is for Manly and Remondis is for us. It's time the media left Sydney clubs alone.

exactly. the nrl tv rights was the biggest thing to happen to the gma,e since the super league season. 9 hold the power, yet they only show 1 live game per week. they have their favourites the rest suffer.

emphasis should be to get to the game, not to sit at home and listen to how phil gould loves sam burgess

I Love to read this forum for its passion and BS!!!, I totally agree with clubs having there home grounds and beleive if you earn the rite to a home final you should play it at home. This big stadium BS clearly has not worked. The Phil Goulds of this world are destroying the game with their on air drivel. I am developing a Phil Gould Mute App for when I watch the Footy , all proceeds will go to the Mighty Sharks !!!!

Redfern was redeveloped but it only holds around 5,000 people I think and is open to the public most of the time I believe. You can't expect taxpayers to cough up a bucket load of dollars to redevelop a ground when you have the SFS only a few kilometres away.

They get paid a lot of money to play at ANZ so I can see why they do it. The SFS would obviously be a better option though taking money out of the equation.

My prediction is another season full of bull**** flying from every direction:

- channel 9 dictating an unfair amount of live free-to-air games to teams who don't need it.
- channel 9 tossing all over the Burgess Bros, their mum (who wouldn't), SBW (if he stays) and Cameron Smith
- referees to continue the monumental **** ups that have plagued this season and finals series
- referee boss continues on his quest to outlaw any form of physical contact in the game.
- Gus Gould to re-colour his hair
- Footy Show will still be unfunny
- supposed big teams will play out of empty stadiums because the games are overpriced and the big stadiums are a **** to get to
- I will be ejected from the leagues club after every home game

I don't know if its been posted but seen that for next year tickets for state of origin at suncorp will be minimum $300 per person. Absolute ****ing joke by the nrl !! Greedy ****ing ****s they are. Will be first time that Lang park won't be a sell out come origin I think.

He should dye it pink for the Women in League round.
