When you have a look through the squads at the world cup, the talent is pretty thin if you're going by what club they play at. A lot of teams might have a few players from big clubs, but mid to low tier euro clubs and other international clubs make up the bulk.

Apparently that photo was photoshopped by a British tabloid (Mirror if my memory serves correctly). The live feed just showed a red mark, not 'marks'.
The footage I have seen is rather indecisive too.
