I AM member No.111 of the Cronulla Sharks. Lots has been written in recent days about my club's image, reputation and character, via the findings of a Melbourne-based marketing company.Much of it has not been a true reflection of how the club is actually performing off the field. The performance of our new board under the direction of three-time Olympian Damian Keogh in difficult times has been outstanding.Keogh and his directors inherited a drug scandal, a salary cap rort, a club with no major sponsor, no CEO and almost the smallest number of members in the game.A club in crisis and as bad as it can get from previous poor management.Last week the Sharks signed a major sponsor and secured their 10,000th member, up by a staggering 92 per cent on last year. They've signed a shorts sponsor and a sleeve sponsor in recent weeks. Home crowds are way up on last year. TV viewership is up 14 per cent.Every corporate box was sold out on Friday night against the Wests Tigers. Other corporates were turned away from the Chairman's Lounge.

We are still in exactly same position as before, but we now have a stadium sponsor (as should be expected) and some more members. Majority of the members signed up before Keogh was elected. Hardly "outstanding", more like satisfactory. What a jibber.

Shane Flanagan has done a wonderful rebuilding job at the Cronulla Sharks in recent years. He's signed quality players the likes of Luke Lewis, Todd Carney, Michael Gordon, Chris Heighington and Beau Ryan to turn the club into finals contenders. It's just a shame they've all come at the expense of local juniors. The Sharks have not one local product in first grade. They've allowed half-back Chad Townsend to escape to the Warriors. Boom forward James Hasson has gone to Manly. And Stewart Mills is off contract with no offer in sight. It's been a big talking point among their fans in recent weeks.

Depends how you play the game and who you expect to support Carney.

A lot of people on here seem to think you can only win with a champion 6 and 7. Not true.

If you have players across the park that are dangerous you are more unpredictable then sides that rely soley on their 6 and 7. The roosters are going so well not due to their halves but the blokes around them. Manly have relied a lot on the skills of the Stewart brothers. Souths look to GI as much as they do Sutton.

Of course the more talent you have on the park the better but I would rather spend our cap on backs then a halfback who may or may not work with Carney's style.

Sort of agree, also reckon we have those dangerous players who can do unexpected things(mainly in our versatile pack).Reckon the Roosters games ( if all fit) will be an interesting match up.We just need maybe another two quick unpredictable replacement backs ( and in my opinion Gardner is a must in the semis for this reason, if were there) to really mix it.

Easts have the best defence in the comp. Shut Carney down and I can't see us scoring a try against them.

How many boom forwards can there be in the comp? Maybe they are all boom forwards. Every time I read an article there seems to be mention of a boom forward or boom backrower (this one's better because of the alliteration).

If there's any more boom backs they'll have to call in the bomb squad.

If all they do is focus on Carney they will lose. We have scored 45 tries Carney has set up 14 scored 1. So 30 other tries have been setup or scored by others.

Not saying that's all they will do, but if they do shut him down they win, comfortably. If we had other focal points in attack it would be much harder for them, but we don't.

The majority of the tries we scored on Friday night won't be scored against a team like Easts.

If they focus hard on Carney then watch Robson have a field day with his show&go.

What? That's how it was so successful last year.

Because Robson usually just shovels the ball to Carney, defenders would just rush up on Carney and ignore Robson, and he would just throw a dummy and dash for the tryline.
