Id still have D Williams at the sharks any day. Still better than both our wingers.

I have to say I don't really rate him that highly. He looks good on the end of a good backline, sometimes.

I wouldn't take him over Beau at the moment, considering we have Beau contracted. It's just not a big enough upgrade to warrant displacing a guy like Beau who we already have on the books. Perhaps he could play on the other side. But he's also at an age where improvement is unlikely.

Zero Tackle.

The Manly Sea Eagles might be regretting offering winger David Williams a new three-year contract after his grand final shocker.

One official was overheard asking ‘has he actually signed the deal’ after the game on Sunday night at ANZ Stadium.

He was no match for the Roosters outstanding young winger Daniel Tupou.

The same official was overheard saying: “The money would be better spent on keeping someone like Peter Hiku long term.”

After that performance I wouldn't , I use to say I would and should go for him but he didn even contest its like he gave up before hand and thats not the attitude a professional athlete should have
Atleast contest the bomb and try and pressure tupou he watched him every time the ball went up

He was never going to out-jump that bloke though. He wasn't really in position to get a decent leap in either. I think he made a reasonable decision to try and make the tackle once he landed. Just didn't execute it unfortunately. **** happens. has to be expected to some extent when you are marking a monster.

The try that Tupou scored he should have punched him in the balls. Only way he was going to stop him.

I dont get the SBW hate. Sorry blokes. I hate the hype too, but thats not really his fault either. Good player? Yes. And forgetting his past, he seems to have some good values. His muslim faith forbids drinking. If anything his approach to sport is full on professional. You can never doubt that. And as for him not knowing where he will be next year? Who cares, every team, code or promoter will be wanting his signature. May as well keep the options open as long as possible.

Imagine if the Sharks snagged him at some point. The quality club exposure that would bring would pay his contract twice

i agree mate. i dont get how you can hate him? he stands out as a clean skin in a dirty forward pack, and is a genuine super star.

i think people that hate him are still living in 2008. 5 years later he is still one of the best players in the game.

if the sharks signed him for centre or 2nd row i would make an absolute mess of myself

It's not him that I hate, it's the Channel 9 treatment of him, as if he is a one man team. There are plenty of good players in that team and he is only one part of the puzzle. It takes a whole team to win a premiership, not just one player. If he was at Parramatta they wouldn't have done much better than what they did. The carry on is way over the top for a team sport IMO. None of that is in SBW's control, so it's not a reflection on him personally.

There is a lot that Channel 9 do that is over the top in my eyes. The Burgess Mum etc. It comes across as cheap, cringe worthy and desperate.

Unlike the Burgess bros and mum SBW tends to try and stay away from the limelight.

Yep but he's not the one creating that perception. It's channel 9 and the media that hype him up.

Is this bloke for real? The ball being in play for 38.31 minutes is seen as a lot in a game of Union??

It was also clear from the All Blacks' win – and elements of the Wallabies' performance against Argentina – that the idea that rugby cannot offer athletes an opportunity to express themselves in the same way as league is a myth. In the Springboks v All Blacks game, the ball was in play for 38.31 minutes, at altitude.

haha **** article. Union just needs to speed up the game a bit and there will be a lot of league players jumping code.

How much time do you think the ball is in play in league? Last figures I saw was it was an average of 75 minutes.

I've never seen stats but I would have guessed around 65-70 minutes.

I'm assuming the journo is talking 38 minutes per game, not per half.

He can't out jump him and come down with the ball but he should still go up and legitimately get his body in the way of Tupou and not give him such a sitter to take the ball. Wolfman let them back into the game.
