My main beef is that he does everything Robson does and more, he is a local junior and halfbacks don't grow on trees. Townsend won't lose you too many games. Robson will.

I guess where I'm coming from tef is that Chad, as a local junior, must be given the utmost opportunity to prove himself. He can't do that unless he has a few chances with (a fit) Carney at 6.

I also think Chad is a better option than Robson but being a local junior should have nothing to do with it.

No, talent should dictate who starts. It is just a plus that he is a local junior. It must suck for any local to look up and see all their pathways to first grade clogged by imports. Especially frustrating for players like Townsend with a hack like Robson in front of him. Same goes for Morris. He should have been made redundant last year. Look at the Dragons. They will go with two very talented youngsters in King and Rein at dummy half. Both given a taste of first grade early in their careers and both will benefit from it.

Yet if it wasn't for their need of a halfback Fien would have the hooker role.

They don't have a good one so they need Fien to play there. The fact that they can't attract one is a totally different story.

I think they are pinning their hopes on Drinkwater to break through. Fien is their version of Morris/Robson.

If a local junior is good enough, they will get a crack. I for one would like to see both peachey and lichaa get a go this year with the vision of peachey taking Morris's role next year and lichaa de goiss the following year. Chad and Robson, meh both dont do a lot for me so doesn't make a difference

I was quite happy with robbos contribution last year and gave him a B+ and people pinning their hopes on chad, im feeling could be in for a big disappointment imo.
My read on the situation is the only thing that chad has over robbo is he is younger, most other things are on or below par and robbos dummy and go is up there with the best of them

I agree, he was ranked in the top 3 in the team fortries and assists. And i remember his blinder against the warriors. And with better quality around him i think that will be the real test.

I love the "local junior" thing. Guess what over the 45 years we have been in the comp using local juniors we have one how many comps?

If we aint got the cattle locally freaking import it. I would rather win a comp with no local juniors then continue to have no silverwear.

dont say anything bad about the forums golden (****) child chad, he is the saviour!!!!!!!!!!

**** mate, he is hardly the golden child. I've never said anything other than he is serviceable at 7 and would make a good foil for Carney. I've got no doubt he would be a solid halfback for the next ten years if we gave him a chance. Do you honestly think that Robson is better than Chad? And for the record I would rather Peachey be given a go over Chad if it came down to it.

I don't think anyone is saying that the team has to be made up of entirely local juniors. The point is that we do have juniors coming through and they are being blocked by over priced veterans. I mean signing Heighington for three years. WTF? We are stacked with young backrow talent so why not try and properly develop it?
