There's plenty of doom and gloom on here and after the last 4 weeks rightly so. We should still be a chance to make the finals, we are good enough to beat the Titans and Knights, but the Dragons game really damaged us mentally and Flanagan doest yet have the coaching skill to get his players mentally over such a loss.

I'm not usually a defender of a coach or players in such circumstances, but I see hope.

Statistically last night we smashed the Titans in every aspect, stat wise we sit 5th on the ladder, we lost games we should've won this year like the manly game on the bell.

Maybe this year is like 2007, we just need to learn how to win, convert those stats into victories.

07 was Ricky's first year as coach, we lost a stack of very close games, but in 08 we win those games and were equal minor premiers.

With another year under flanagans coaching maybe it will be the same thing next year, the players stat wise can dominate games, perhaps by next year they'll figure out how to covert those into wins.

Flanagan will learn also, he's made some blues this year, playing Gardner when he was injured, the slide line defense against the Dragons and Bronocs and failing to play our best attacking players in Gardner and Kelly last night when the season was on the line.

He will learn too, there is hope.

as a forty year season seat holder this would be the worst team i have ever watched i would keep about 5 of them and get rid of the rest they just don't want to play they just have no go in them all they wont to do is run side ways no one wants to go up the middle except our mighty gallen who tried so hard i feel so sorry for him and no i don't blame the coach we have had so many 15mins into the game last night we were walking the titans were running they wanted to win we didn't i think they should take a long look at them self and try and get some self respect back into the black white and blue because i was so shamed last night it was just pitiful to watch and i want better and we as supporters should demand better and not have the watch this rot week after week. sorry if i hurt anyones feelings but i have to say how i feel

I agree with everything said there.

The last 3 seasons have so hard for all sharks supporters and I hope there is some light at the end of the tunnel. But if I'm honest with myself last night was just about the worst game out of this period, maybe ever. Something is just not right at the Cronulla Sharks.

I think we can take some pride in this season, every so called expert has us as dead last this year, we really could be around 9th.

Wonder how many people turned up for the fan day today...........ouch that gives a whole new meaning to bad timing-maybe even the diehards were thinking twice.I mean what would you say when you were meeting the players? Well done....Good effort last night boys.....good luck in the semis?.

good luck in the semis?.

good luck avoiding the spoon ?

And I chose not to attend today - and I will give serious thought to whether I will bother next Monday night either - Flanno et al can call me fickle all they want .

I don't know how anyone who watched that game can say the team played badly or didn't put in, just because we lost to the Titans, everyone has gone off like pork chops.

We were very unlucky last night, we played attacking football, we made heaps of line breaks, we made double the line breaks, had all the possession and had a reasonably good completion rate. We scored three tries apiece, the only difference was the goalkicking (which should have stayed with Chad). If you don't believe me check the game stats here. We were the better team.

At the end of the day, everything pretty much went the Titans way. They scored one of the freakiest, flukiest tries of the year whilst we had so many tries thwarted at the final hurdle it wasn't funny - gal slipped over, Ike looked left instead of right with three men unmarked - it went on and on.

This stuff was unlucky. People say they wanted the boys to put in 100%, play attacking football and never give up. Well, that's what they did! I'm shattered that they lost because they didn't deserve to but I'm not upset at the effort they put in.

The only thing I really was unhappy about was the dropping of Gardner for Gordon. If the Gards had played, I reckon we score at least a couple of those tries that went begging. Then again, I'm not the coach and I don't know what has been going on with Gards and his reported "attitude problem". Maybe he need his backside kicked?

The boys were all really shattered about the loss today at fan day, Toups is adamant he scored that try, by the way. They will be back and we should be there to support them.

Did Gards really get dropped though? He didn't play any grade. All I've heard is speculation - does anyone know for sure?

Gards did not play any grade and he wasn't injured. Dropped or otherwise I am not sure

I understand the frustration but I think you are giving the sides of 2009 and 2010 way too much credit. Sadly I will argue that we have played much worse during most of the games in those years (even some that we ended up winning!). This year we have been in the contest for alot of the games we have played and the potential has been there. We just look tired now and I think that is a reflection of Gal and Smith, who are sore and sorry, but still putting in.

Just a couple of weeks ago we were a chance at making a late run at the 8, which is a great achievement. There are some positives to take out of the season, as well as some close losses and stupid mistakes to look back at and wonder about. I think Flanno will look at what went right and what went wrong and we will be a better team next year.

I agree about the 2007 analogy this thread has made and can see alot of similarities. Losing badly like this hurts but I think it is unfair to pretend the whole season has been this way. I will certainly feel better after this one than the previous two!
