The thing is.. All of those allocation of funds would have been planned prior (AFB included), but the Finucane retirement was not planned. In conclusion, there's now unplanned funds available.

I don't necessarily think it will happen or we will be chasing him. It's just an interesting thought.

Ones a bench forward and one is a starter ?

You want to offer 900 for a player that is going to play on the bench ?

Nikora and Teig are solid enough, no need to splash any money in the forwards let alone 900k in positions we are sweet in.

Use that money to lock up a star fullback or half if we really want to upgrade the team

We have Brit and Teig, both on less than Fifita. Would be a terrible use of cap resources for us to try and make room for him.

I don't recall saying play Fifita on the bench at any point.

Yeah we do. But we also were playing Finucane at 13 and McInnes from the bench.

Can I emphasise, that this was purely just an interesting thought. That we might indeed be the supposed silent Sydney club.

I highly doubt it mate. We're 100% good in the forwards, loading up on anything other than depth is a waste.

Not that long ago, we were getting bashed in forwards. Hence everyone cheered when we signed AFB.

I think our backs are solid, we have Atkinson and dykes to plug the holes.

I would love to see the below pack personally.

Agree if Nikora goes down which is why we need depth, not a 850k signing.

Leave Cam at 13.

I stand by comment, our forwards are stacked.

I agree - we've got some of the most talented depth in the comp with guys like Dykes, Stonestreet, Gabreal - but our depth on the edge is a bit weak (althoughI always forget about Colqhoun). I'd like to see us bring in an exciting young backrower.

I reckon he will stay at Titans ... more money and better lifestyle than Penrith. Roosters a chance, but I reckon they'll likely stick with AC.

Also... I think Finucane retiring is only about $300k on our cap next year. His contract dropped off substantially for 2025 if I remember right.

Do I think we should go for him? No. In a hypothetical world, where the titans would only release him to us, in exchange for Jack and Teig, absolutely.

We would need to move someone on to make a 900k signing, and I don't think Fitz would do that. Nor should he in these circumstances.

Fifita is only 24. He's certainly young enough to fit that bill. He is about to entire is absolute prime (if he is in a decent enough side).

Idk, I don't see the sense in building from within and recruiting the bare minimum of players in recent years if we can't make a splash here or there down the track. An AFB and Fifita combo would be one hell of a splash for 2025.

If we had a lazy 900K in fantasy league I would rather look at upgrading our 1 and 6 positions - No offence to the incumbents. Compare the 1's and 6's in the teams that win the comp.

LOL noooo chance we’d be in for Fifita. The club seems intent on moving forward with and investing in Teig and Nikora as our backrowers for quite a while yet, both are almost 80 minute players anyway, so there’s no point moving one to the bench. If one goes down for a few weeks, Talakai or Colquhoun can fill in quite effectively.

Fifita’s not spending a lot of time in the middle these days but for arguments sake, we have already locked down enough of our cap into our forwards for the next few years that it still wouldn’t make sense to lay down such a large pay packet to another one who might fill in at 8/10/13 very occasionally. We have at this moment 10 players on first grade level contracts next season (11 if we re-sign Jack) fighting it out 7 spots (3 middles, 4 bench)

That is a lot of money invested in something we dont need more of and I highly doubt we’d have anywhere close to the near million available that Fifita would command, even with Dale’s retirement.

Because don’t forget Dale’s contract next season would have been reportedly worth less than 400k or thereabouts. His deal was allegedly structured with incremental downgrades with a big cut on his final year as both the club and Dale recognised he’d be used in a reduced role towards the end of his deal.

Couple that with the big investment into Fonua-Blake, the numbers and the balance of the team wouldn’t add up.

Why wouldnt it be Souths?
Bennett loves him , they need forwards and Burgess going.
