So, is Dykes available?
I mean...I'm worried about whose car it could be that he was driving.
You wouldn't think that he'd be driving his own car to a game or a function unlicensed. That kind of stupid decision is surely only made when impaired by mind altering substances.
Talakai's license expired not suspended, he then didn't go to court, I can't remember the exact circumstances around that but broadly speaking it was more poor life admin skills and attention to detail than this.Didn't Talakai do this 18 months or so ago and he wasn't under the influence?
Maybe a team mate that was more plastered thought Tricky could drive him home?
Yep - I don't care that some people take drugs, I care than an NRL player, and even worse a Sharks player, did.I don’t think its unrealistic for young men who have access to the education and help that highly paid professional footballers do to stay away from illegal activities. Boys will be boys doesn’t wash anymore and I’m tired of some people (not referring to your good self or sharkstragic) just shrugging their shoulders and accept that these young men will be making these kind of mistakes that they shouldn’t be making.
Run over a pedestrian and its a totally different story. With all the education they get It's more than dumb. It’s cocaine not peptides and it was used in a party setting, for someone his age it’s a learning lesson.
He’s not a criminal he’s just dumb
Available, sure. Has been playing FB in cup though most recently. Atkinson has been playing 5/8 so probably why he got call up.So, is Dykes available?
Thanks. I did not think of Atkinson as I said in the game topic.Available, sure. Has been playing FB in cup though most recently. Atkinson has been playing 5/8 so probably why he got call up.

Isnt it 2?Young guys make mistakes, that’s why the NRL has their 3 strike drug policy.
Once you get behind the wheel, off ya head and without a license, you’ve made it a criminal matter.
Presumably in consultation with NRL still but I'd love to see Sharks stand him down rather than NRL do it, just from an optics perspective.Yep id be running out Atkinson.
Everyone has this hard on for Dykes at 5/8 but he hasnt really got the runs on the board there at any level yet.
Nearly a perfect start to the year and through 1 stupid decision could all be for nothing.
If the NRL give him a longish ban, it tests our depth big time
I don't think expectations are that high. Maybe it's the circles I travel in, but I can't think of anyone I know who's been caught with this mix, much less even close, knowing that their career would be on the line (so to speak). They are paid well for a good job, role models in community ect so I don't disagree and if they can't meet the standards argument could be made maybe they shouldn't be in this position and just go do a regular 9-5 or haul bricks for a living.
But with some of my posts I'm just trying to be real about it, our expectations are high for young blokes with cash and even with education and support around them maybe those expectations are unrealistic cause at some point a player is going to find himself disappointing or not meeting those standards.
I don't really see this sorta thing going away possibly ever no matter how high the standards or how harsh the penalty's. But is society actually changing for the better? Are we focused on the wrong things or is the problem the procedure and approach to tackling the challenges?
He should have slept a bit more past 3am if he wanted the nights drink and coke to wear off...dumb move for sure.
but whos to say he wasnt just driving home the next morning after he's slept when he got done? ive almost been dui the day after a heavy night. they said he notified the club instantly is that possible to do at 3am?
also mentioned he was unaware he was driving suspended?
and the coke, 80% of the players have taken it, i mean have we all forgotten about that immortal and ecstasy? theres no 100% proven results yet either.
although it sounds like im being ignorant and sticking up for him but there are facts we are yet to hear. i understand the club making such a stance doesnt bode well for the circumstances, but the waters are still too0 muddy to start bashing on him yet
hes human weve all ****ed up although that doesnt make it right, making judgement calls from what you read online is a blight on you, not him
sharks will stick with him and turn him around and make him better from "this"
There’s no details.Run over a pedestrian and its a totally different story. With all the education they get It's more than dumb.
If getting caught having it at a party was all it was, then yeh it's dumb.
This is more than simply that.
Also states expired, not a suspended licence. From SMH
At 9.45am on Monday on his way to Cronulla training to attend a mandatory recovery session, Trindall was stopped by police and recorded a mid-range alcohol reading of 0.125 as well as a positive test for an illicit substance.
Trindall left a teammate’s house party at midnight. Ten hours later he was charged by police
The Sharks star celebrated the win over the Cowboys on Sunday night by partying with teammates. The next morning he recorded a mid-range alcohol reading and a positive test to an illicit substance.www.smh.com.au
The expired licence is just a ticket not a charge which is already dealt with. The other 2 go on the 1 charge and if it’s his first offence he’ll just get a couple k worth of fines and a lengthy suspension. As stupid as it is it’s certainly not the end of the world. He’s certainly not the only bloke with a criminal record in the nrl and we’ve signed another for next seasonLet’s hope (best case scenario):
1. The positive illicit drug result is a false positive and the 2nd test clears him
2. The “expired” driver’s license is just that and he wasn’t driving with a “suspended” licence (as some have suggested). That then just becomes an admin oversight (a bit like Sifa) instead of anything major.
That leaves the DUI of 0.124 BAL (at 9:45am mind you). Stupid, stupid stupid BUT, he wears that and can move on. A few weeks on the sideline (maybe a few more with the Jets) and then back in the 6 next to Nicho.
Hasn’t he had a prior DUI? Or no?The expired licence is just a ticket not a charge which is already dealt with. His last suspension was for demerit points I believe. I don’t know about a previous dui. Yeah he just didn’t renew it, pretty sure it was only a few days overdue. If it was on its own it’d probably just be a warning and not even make the newsHasn’t he had a prior DUI? Or no?
Re: expired licence it’s definitely not as bad as suspended. I assume it’s expired due to not renewing it since suspended. Still not ideal, but not as bad.
