Start Williams because he's mobile, aggressive and puts in alot of work, need that in the first 20, instead of two big bodies.
Hazelton and Tuku bring impact off the bench, then have Dale back for experience off the bench. Keep Atkinson as utility, who covers backline, lock and dummy half. Hunt, Uele, Rudolf and Calqhoun should get game time at jets first for fitness and conditioning before coming back to top grade.

Depends if Fitz thinks that the slow starts are anything to do with the performance of the starting props I guess. Round 1 Hunt throwing the ball away didn’t help, but fixable.

Fitz also likes starting with 2 big bodies. Jack at 13 with Cam from the bench might be an option once they are back to full strength - but unlikely atm with all of the players missing imo. Would be sacrificing the early tip-ons that you get with Dale/Cam in 13 but would be bringing in some strong combos from the bench.
Yeah no doubt there are plenty of other factors contributing to the slow starts. Crazy seeing all the errors in the first 20 laid out like that.

Personally I noticed a significant difference in intent even from Tommy starting. He wanted to be in everything, whether that's good or not is debatable, but I loved how he even still went for Savage to cut down the kick. I don't think we've had enough of that in our starts.

Per post match the guys wanted to start fast.

May be the case trying to start fast resulted in starting sloppy.

Pretty sure Nicho went to him after the game and said something along the lines of
“this was all you mate” [BTW, I can lip read].

I also noticed he had an appreciative and encouraging chat with Jack post game. Next in line after Jack was Tieg which Nicho just gave a quick hug to and moved on lol. Can't shower every player with praise in every game though.

Give him a 3 year deal now

The club aren't idiots, there's no way they don't extend him and I'm pretty sure Jack will take it. As good as he is I don't know how many other clubs are taking an interest in him or watching him that closely and I think like our other forwards Jack would accept a little less coin to stay with the boys at Cronulla.

Goes to another club there is no guarantee he can deliver the form he has right now with different structures / players around him ect.
Bloke must be one of the best bang for buck players going around and arguably our best forward in 2024.

Him and Cam are first picked every week as far as I'm concerned. Jack is mandatory top 17 now, cannot be considered on the fringes (I haven't for a while personally).

Jack is shitting all over the likes of Hunt & even Dale. Let blokes like that fight it out to justify their place in the team.

Williams should remain coming off the bench, he changed the momentum of the game when he came on. We don't have that in our team.

Yea correct me if I'm wrong but I think we have gone behind on the scoreboard early in every 1 of our 4 games this season.

The team might want to start fast but they are not starting well - errors, lethargy, lack of punch, bad defense it seems to keep happening in those opening 20 mins.

Jack has come on and turned the game around for us with his impact significant in at least 2 of those 4 games and put us back on track. He started in second row vs. Tigers so didn't get his usual opportunity from the bench.

So what happens if we have another bad opening 20 mins but we already have Jack on the field as a starter? Who's going to save our bacon then?

Also consider who would move to the bench to take Jack's role. Oregon prob better suited as a starter while Hazleton can do either role well. Might have BHU back shortly as well.

The only game we've lost this year, is the one where we scored first

Prefer to think of it as the only one we misused Jack
Yes I was wrong and wanting him starting on the edge two weeks ago .
Fins Up boys were on the money , he CHANGES games when he comes on .
Why change that winning formula ?

With no faith in Burns to start/play or play >30 minutes I can see how it would seem less disruptive to move the bench forward than our starting centre. Glad we reacted and gave the middle Jack back.

Presumably it would have been Colquhoun if available and would have been sweet.

Coming out how he did this week really drove home how important Jack is.

FMD even when Dally M points are fairly handed out to the most deserving players on the day they find a way to suggest Hynes was dudded and should have got some.

Hynes was good, he was not more good than those other players

They should be talking about how good Jack Williams was
