I've said it once, and I'll say it again - we need to adopt a Penrith like future. I hope, but doubt we'll win the comp in the next 3-4 years unless we massively improve the entire squad. Instead of buying ageing backrowers, target relatively cheap all-round players; Wallace, Brown, Taylor, Peachey, Whare, etc.
We desperately need halves, and everyone knows that. I'm all for giving Barba a shot, but I've said for months that Sezer should be priority #1 (after A Reynolds and DCE). I've also said the same about Sandow, but no-one agreed until saw you lot talking about it. If we decide to keep Barba in 6, I'd target Hodkinson. If we decided to go for Sezer, I'd like him to partner with Sandow. Having 2 halves that are alike wouldn't work, unless they're world class. Hence why Barba and Sandow wouldn't be a great halves pairing. Or even give Todd Murphy a shot, ffs. He could be the next big half, like sure he may not, but you never know until you give the guy a shot.
I say we have to build around a core of young players, which is what we can do, and perfectly. Holmes, Bird, Gagan, Nu, Wade and the Fifita's. Slowly but surely build around them. Bukuya can stay on the bench, solid player coming from there. Heigno, Toops are both off-contract. While players like Ben Henry and Alex Glenn are, too. Try our best to get one of them to replace one or both of them and bring in one of our own.
