Rumour in the Fairfax press that the GC are after Norman to pair with Cherry-Evans (which would be a good move for both to be honest).

Anyway that leaves Elgey and Sezer unattached. I think we'll struggle to shift anyone who is wanted by their Club but we're a good chance at anyone who is unattached.

On Sezer - there have been rumours since mid last year that he was keen to come back to Sydney. I reckon he told the Club a while back that he would leave and they've acted accordingly... I wonder if he's got a destination lined up.

Going to be tough to stop Manly luring at least one .

Who is your preference for a halfback mate?

What's the bet we end up with Mortimer?

He has the right amount of zero creativity

solid in not being able to kick well

and has plenty of slowness.

ticks all the boxes

From DCE to Morts. Such is Cronulla. I joked that we'd end up with Norman but it looks like we are really going to be scraping the halves barrel come next year.

You'd have to look at Elgey, it's not easy getting NYC player of the year and your team finishing second last ! With DCE, Seizer, Mortimer and talks of Norman he seems pretty far down the pecking order. Interesting to see how he goes this weekend.

The other thing with Norman though, he is actually a decent fullback and all this playmaking could help him become an even better one- much better than Zillman anyway.
DCE/Elgey in the halves surely.

I've said it once, and I'll say it again - we need to adopt a Penrith like future. I hope, but doubt we'll win the comp in the next 3-4 years unless we massively improve the entire squad. Instead of buying ageing backrowers, target relatively cheap all-round players; Wallace, Brown, Taylor, Peachey, Whare, etc.

We desperately need halves, and everyone knows that. I'm all for giving Barba a shot, but I've said for months that Sezer should be priority #1 (after A Reynolds and DCE). I've also said the same about Sandow, but no-one agreed until saw you lot talking about it. If we decide to keep Barba in 6, I'd target Hodkinson. If we decided to go for Sezer, I'd like him to partner with Sandow. Having 2 halves that are alike wouldn't work, unless they're world class. Hence why Barba and Sandow wouldn't be a great halves pairing. Or even give Todd Murphy a shot, ffs. He could be the next big half, like sure he may not, but you never know until you give the guy a shot.

I say we have to build around a core of young players, which is what we can do, and perfectly. Holmes, Bird, Gagan, Nu, Wade and the Fifita's. Slowly but surely build around them. Bukuya can stay on the bench, solid player coming from there. Heigno, Toops are both off-contract. While players like Ben Henry and Alex Glenn are, too. Try our best to get one of them to replace one or both of them and bring in one of our own.

For the next few years. We have 4 or 5 australian school boys players coming through that should be ear marked.

Our future isnt bleak, we have talent in the club. Its about their development. And thats not just flannos job, he needs to get some quality staff for developing specific positions. Flanno shouldnt be expected to be a halves coach, dykes is a **** appointment if the club wants success, it needs to spend some bucks on some development staff.

Why would you wish that? I certainly don't. I love watching quality juniors make 1st grade.

Wishing the other team to fail rather than our's excel is how losers think.

Obviously some people can't understand the concept of a joke, and no I am not a loser!
If you really want to know, the kid is a mate of my son's.

New coach, new development staff and keep the rest. Get someone who can improve the squad from their experience and knowledge. We have a good core of young blokes to build around, just need the right people like you said.

At the back of my mind... do we have John Morris in the youngster development role now or something? I reckon it'd suit him real well if we don't have him there yet.
